Mines 2010. Base model had the short bus wing.
Looks like youd be saving some more cash.

i bag to differ. I put $35 HID kits on my Cobalt, 370z and ZX6R..never had a issue. Cobalt and Z are gone but i've had my bike for 3 years now and put the HID's when i got it...still going strong. I was told the "chinese crap" doesnt work well with my SRT-10 Ram so i paid $250 per kit (2 kits) and 3 weeks later the first ballast blew. About a month later a bulb burnt out and another month later a second ballast blew. 3 months after that the 2 fog light bulbs burnt out. I will NEVER pay that kind of price again....its "cheap chinese crap" for me, from now on.

I know you can gets the kits everywhere but the car doesn't have projectors like it should with the Hid's. I checked out the base model and they will do around 32k for it so i may pull the trigger.

OEM HID's... very worth it and can't beat it unless you do it right and retrofit and that's just as expensive if not more in some cases.
FAST KEY... is cool, but personally I could take it or leave it.
STEREO SYSTEM... well, it's not the best, but it's good enough... besides once you start modding, the sound of the car itself should be the music you listen to most.

I got the package for the HID's alone. To me, having such a sweet car in almost every way, then only having halogen headlights... would be a d*** shame...

Can someone confirm that the base model doesn't have leveling motors?

Most people tend to learn the hard way on this. If you're ok with Halogens the base GSR is a steal at 32k. If you want HIDs don't skimp, do it right the first time.

IMHO, 2 grand is little steep for an HID and radio.. but that's just my personal opinion of course, I don't really mind using my keys for ignition since SSS package is also lacking the "Push" button so basically you still turn the ignition but with no key in it..

Also, stock radio on the EVO is 10 times better than my STI, so it is good enough for my taste( descent bass and EQ dynamics).. although , I am a musician with a good ear, I am not an audiophile so if you are yourbest bet would be getting in a base car and test the radio..

I wish I had an HID package only... for say like $500 or something , since the difference between OEM halogen headlight and projector headlight is only $100( $1100 vs $1200).. but paying more than a grand for an HID package is little absurd to each his own

It's a lot more of a difference than 1100 vs 1200. Not sure where you got your numbers but the MSRP for BOTH halogen assemblies is $768.74. Can even get them as low as $585.78 from mitsubishiparts.net.

As I recall, HID assemblies is much much more than that.

interesting, but I still don't understand why the projector headlights are so expensive for Evos.

Even the aftermarket ones are extremely expensive .. Look at this website:

http://turbometal.com/

and you'll see aftermarket projector headlights for Evos cost around $1100 whereas the other projector headlights(for different brands) priced at $300-500 .

Am I missing something? what is so damn special about the Evo headlights?

If you want to be cheap get a DSM or an early VIII. I don't see the point in ruining a nice brand new car with inferior generic knock-off parts.
