looking at 2011 GSR, SS package worth it?

So i'm looking at two Wicked White 2011 GRS's. I can get the base GSR for 32,600 or the GSR with the Sight and Sound package for 34,800.

Are the stereo and HID's worth an extra 2k?

How bad does the 130 W stereo suck?

I love the HID's as well but for 2k i think i could install some HID's and a sub for less than 2k. What do you think???

You could possibly get HID + stereo system for less than 2k. Do a bit of research, pick a stereo system and HID than do a price comparison. Also keep in mind the labor for it all.

I would do the work myself so thats not an issue. I do find my vette system to suck and really liked the infinity setup in my VIII SSL car. I think i may have just answered my own question, lol.

We are on the same situation but I think you should go with the factory HID at least! Nothing like oem parts

Yes you have lol. Just grab the base and save yourself a few bucks Plus it isnt really about the money, its also the effort and sweat you put into the car

This topic has come up before! For the price of the HID lights alone its worth the extra cash! The OEM lights cost approx $1400.00, and don't forget the FAST key that is part of that pkg as well! The Rockford system is a pretty damn good also! The SS pkg is a pretty good value when u add up what u r really getting! I didn't even consider a base GSR mainly do to the fact of the HID's!

I tried searching but didn't come up with much, i'm really not a forum noob!!!

I loved the hid's on my SSL VIII and have them on my vette now so i know what you mean. I kind of knew i wanted those already but was unsure how much better the stereo is. Sounds like i'll pony up the extra 2k and be done with it!

I wasn't going to buy a ralliart without the HID's, rockford, or recarro. The FAST keys were just a bonus they are so convenient. Now that I am shopping for an EVO to trade the RA in I can't go without the same package minimum. Kind of spoiled me lol. I did find a sweet GG EVO X with around 40K miles for around 23K but small spoiler, no HID's, no rockford. Sucks because it is really close by too.

I will just have to keep looking. I agree you can't beat those OEM lights and rockford sounds amazing stock. Nicely protected and saves room too.

As one of the few that opted for the non-SSS base model..

I'm glad I don't have the factory RF/navi system, as I'm planning on upgrading everything to aftermarket and the RF system just seems to complicate most installs. For a daily driver, the non-RF stereo is actually pretty good in my opinion.. not great, but definitely good enough.

The larger MR spoiler and other aero bits would be nice, but I actually like the smaller wing.. there's plenty of identical and/or better looking aftermarket options in this department.

HID lights.. the SSS kit is probably worth it, just to get the HID lighting - most importantly, the OEM projectors, leveling system and factory install without resorting to hacks to avoid flickering issues. The regular halogen headlights just suck, and that's about my only regret for not getting the SSS trim level.

But good luck w/whatever you choose.. it's a very fun car either way

I went with the SSL package on a 2011 GSR and would not go back. There is something about getting in your car and already having good sound. HID's are sweet. You will not regret it. The few dollars a month in payment is more than worth it.

You should ask yourself ifyou are going to be ok with stock radio or not and if your ok without having HiD, and OK without the big wing. Or if you are going to change the wing/trunk to something different. If so, then get the base. If u cant live without HID, or the big wing then get the SSS package.

The wing and the HID was the deciding factor for me. I like my HID and the big wing.

If the FAST key is included do it, it is one of my favorite things about my car, the only issue I have is driving someone else's car and reaching to were the key should be and grabbing nothing Everyone looks at me retarded until I tell them that I don't use a key
