X trans issues

I am purchasing an Evo X here shortly. The phone call got cut off but he mentioned something about reverse having an issue. Is there a common problem there?

Nothing about reverse that i know, but the x's are pretty known for having notchy gears, and also under too much torque, usually from launching hard too many times, im not sure if im explaining this right but i guess the diff pins get pushed out and crack the diff? Also the cmc is crap, nothing about reverse but those are the things ive heard of that have to do with the X trans.

X has no true reverse gear so sometimes you have to let the car roll and inch or double clutch before reverse engages other than that gsr 5 speed trans is great. Notchiness goes away when it warms up.

I figured it wasn't anything serious. I have had the 3rd to 4th a couple times to get the car in reverse a time or two lol.

Ok so now to hijack-ish my own thread. I beat the bag out of cars. What do I need to beef up. Not going crazy on the mods at all. Keeping it in the 350-400 area.

If your planning on driving your car hard you will probably need a new clutch at some point.
When you do its better do to all this stuff at once, you will probably want to do
Clutch, Flywheel, Diff pins, and Clutch master cylinder. Then you should be pretty set drivetrain wise to drive your car hard.

If you are keeping it at 350 to 400 hp you will be fine on all stock parts for a while. If you want to be proactive, a new clutch would be a good idea, but I personally would use the stock clutch until it needed to be replaced.

Yeah I pretty much just replace clutches with an aftermarket piece anyways.
