Mods to stay even with GTR?
.... you two seem to be fighting back and forth quite a bit w/ faulty info.
Nissan had a bad track record w/ the original 2009s. They have since stood very well behind their warranties and cars. check nagtroc (i read every day) and you'll see this to be so. Stop buying the scare hype thats out there.
Also, 911T is an AWEFUL track car. porsche denies warranty claims on tracked turbos, because the turbo is NOT a track car. the gt3 is, and porsche is generally more forgiving about damage to them, esp when the event happens at a pca event.

I have a lot of input on both cars but let me summarize it this way.
If you can afford a GT-R, BUY IT.
If you can only afford an Evo X, buy it and be happy. It is an awesome car and great bang for your buck.
If you can afford them both then keep the Evo as a lightly modded daily driven car and get the GT-R with bolt on mods as the weekend car/street king.

During my searching, I saw several instances of modified 911 Turbos having plenty of warranty claims after track use with no issues from dealerships.
Meanwhile, a quick search on Nissan denying warranty claims gives pages and pages and pages of results.
I mean, I'm not trying to sell scare tactics or anything, but simple 5 minute research proves almost everything you've said is wrong.
Google searches don't "prove" anything. I'm willing to bet a much larger percentage of GTR owners are on internet car forums compared to Porsche owners. I know plenty of Evo guys with mods and track days who have still gotten lots of repairs covered under warranty, but a Google search on Evo warranty coverage would tell you otherwise.
Fact of the matter is, if you beat the hell out of, modify, or track your car which is sold as a street vehicle, why would you expect warranty to cover any damage caused by any other use? I can go outside, rev my engine to the limiter, and dump the clutch repeatedly. Should I expect Mitsubishi to cover the damage when the clutch goes out? When the transfer case explodes? When I sheer off 1st gear? No way in hell. Same thing with the GTR, just because you can do something doesn't mean you should...unless you're willing to pay the consequences for your actions.

wow, I didn't know google results equaled reality. It couldn't possibly be that 911T owners don't all hop online and join forums and complain? And that everyone was so scared about gtrs due to the initial bad press. No company warranties abuse damage, porsche included.
The 911t transmission is god-awful for tracking - but I only talk to the techs and the guys at PCA events, they clearly know nothing because they didn't come up in google results?

I don't get why people are so obsessed with claiming one car is better then another.
The GTR is just different, that's all. It's a different car with a different set of design parameters (beat the 911 Turbo) with a different set of compromises from the Evo.
GTR is great in it's element, on a dry full length road course. It beats the Evo in that environment, no question.
However, the GTR falls on it's face in autox and other tight events because it's just too heavy. Does that mean Miatas are "better" then GTRs? No, they are just a different car with a different set of skills.
Personally, I can use the Evo every day. It's got four doors, is plenty comfortable in MR trim, and has enough power to be exciting on the streets without being dangerous. GTRs I see as more weekend/track day cars, which seem like a bit of a waste to daily drive.
Just my opinion.

And I'm not talking about abuse damage either. It's in the owner's manual of the GTR that they will deny warranty for driving the car with VDC off. It's in the official owners manual of 2012 GTRs.
so basically my take on it is: ( FLAME SUIT ON
)
MOST lancer owners wish they had an evo, are working towards an evo or modified it to look like an evo.
MOST evo owners wish they had a GTR, are working towards a GTR or try to justify why their evo is better, faster or cheaper than a GTR.
MOST GTR owners love the JDM/Modding scene, want exotic car performance or better and thanks to companies such as HKS, AMS, IVEYTUNE and COBB its much easier to mod than exotics and really get insane WHP with just bolt ons...
I understand everyone's financial situation is different and that some of us are perfectly happy with our evos. But the fact of the matter is, we have to admit that the GTR is a better overall car, we have to pay to play and with minor tune/mods it really gets going. I love my evo as it sits now (lots, lots of mods) and with a mortgage and a newborn is hard to get a weekend toy such as the GTR. I would love to own a GTR and will most likely sell the evo when the time comes for a GTR.
