Kracka thats a great reminder. Even though the WRX is pretty awesome it is no STi. At least the new WRX gets the wide body like the STi. Lucky for those guys.

Not really, that's more like GSR vs. MR.

i wonder why nobody has said keep the RA pay it off so now you own it then go get a loan on a EVO X and bam now you have two cars and can switch between them or one DD and one weekends type deal since you said you only have 9 months to freedom

I would just get the Evo and make sure you get somewhat of a good deal. I had a Ralliart for a week and then I was like "What the hell, might as well get the EVO." So that's what I did. Never once regretted that decision. Lost about $4k in the trade in value but that's a loss I'm willing to accept.

Rock -- thats not a bad idea! If its paid off than keep it and get an evo. Unless he's looking at making the Evo his DD and trading in a paid off RA is a good chunk of the price of the Evo

Does not make sense on any level no matter what the car is you cant beat a paid off car. he owes nothing on it period and guess what if times get rough he will know he will have wheels unless he sells it besides he can get more private party value selling the ralliart then trading it in. I think that would be the dumbest thing ever to have a car paid off and trade it in for 5 more years of payments enjoy not having a car note for at least a year or so DONT FORGET WITH THE NEWLY FOUND MONEY HE WILL HAVE NOT HAVING A CAR NOTE HE CAN GO AHEAD AND BUY HIS MODS FOR HIS FUTURE EVO VS HAVING A CAR NOTE and trying to get mods streching money or using the CC. that makes way more sense to me then all these people saying get the evo now get it.

Title in hand doesn't really matter when trading in a vehicle, the dealership does all the paperwork anyway and just deducts what you still owe from the trade-in value.
The only thing I have to add, if you do trade in owing on the Ralliart, if they bust out the four square, tell them to get bent. Make the deal over the phone if you can

Nice, thanks. Yes, beware of trickery and know what your number goals are before going in to the dealership. Also, try to not discuss monthly payments, it's much better to look at the actual cost.

Four Square article I found, luckily none of the dealerships I've worked with have attempted using one of these with me: http://consumerist.com/2007/03/deale...o-beat-it.html

Having driven a RA (Cobb AP), X GSR (stock and stage 2), 08 STI, and 11 WRX, I will say this... the WRX is a lot closer to a STI than the RA is to the X GSR...
