AND it begins....
So as a lot of you are aware my GF bought me a 2008 GSR, well she has been cruisin it for a little bit now, probably put about 1K miles on it.
Got an email this morning..."I love this car I want a blue one. Going to go test drive a couple 2011s today."
So now I guess there is a high probability that our garage will have 2 Evos in it. Crappy parts:
It will turn into a pissing contest as to who's is faster
Which one gets the next mod
AND my personal favorite the "Awww his and hers matching cars" comments.

plus shes going to be on a 2011 platform which is a better platform to start with. i read that progessively, the evo X performs better, the 2008 baselined at around 220-230whp (IIRC), 2010 baselined at 240-250whp (IIRC), and last time i read with the 2011, it baselined better than the 2010.
so yeah, she will be faster.

either way, its still a win-win situation. u can drive hers anytime you want!
More Hp and Tq does NOT mean faster car. The car can be the better higher performing car but it all boils down to the driver lol.
Seriously though it is going to be a fun little competition. As far as the money goes we already set a dollar limit of 3K in mods per car. She has to do her own homework etc. I have an advantage here, but she is not an idiot when it comes to mods either. We agreed no "peeking". We are going to go to the track for a best of three. Since the time slips don't lie. If I lose I am going to go beat up a 5th grader to feel better about myself.

$3k limit...
That's interesting. Then I guess u have to set up ur ride with an emphasis on suspension. Basically making use of all the horsepower that the stock evo has and put it on the ground.
Just a brainstorm, this is what I would do with $3k limit.
Cobb accessport...to free up some more ponies hidden in the ecu $600
Swift spec-r springs - $300
Bushings - around $1100 for things that matter....suspension, engine
So that's $2k
Last $1k:
Uicp - $150 (used)
Licp -$150 (used)
Intake - $150-200 (used)
Exhaust $500 (used)
That right there would be a formidable track car. Coz just like u said, to which I agree completely, bigger hp, doesn't mean faster car. If the car can't put down the power to the ground, it doesn't mean anything. Granted, evo cars can put down mostly of the power to the ground being a awd, but every little bit helps when time slips r what matters.
So, keep us posted with this!

It should be fun. The 3K limit was to see who can maximize that money the best. Mine already has a Borla Catback on it but If she does exhaust that comes out of her 3K since she is buying a newer car. I'm sure it will go to 5K shortly there after.
I already have a FMIC, Hard pipes, and an AEM CAI waiting to go on.

U should price out the Borla CBE, used price at least, and then subtract that price on ur 3k limit.
Just my thoughts though...coz if u still have 3k limit and u already have a CBE, then we already know who's gonna win. There's no fun in that. Just my 2cents.
Either way, have fun and keep us posted!

. If only my wife wanted one......Either way congrats on the new soon to be addition.
