I was pretty surprised how long my X takes to start. I bought it unmodified with 4k miles on it. takes a second or two of cranking before it kicks in.

Mine starts like the video posted, which is ten times better than my IX was with the AEM.

I always turn mine to ACC first and let the fuel pump prime, then turn it over. This is a known problem in cold weather if you don't prime the fuel pump first, but even in sunny so-cal I've had instances of hesitation when I didn't prime the pump.

Yeah when ever i try to turn my X on, it takes a solid 1-2 seconds to turn on.

actually, i had the same thing.

but i have a 350Z as well, and the time when i noticed that the Z was slow to start up, i knew the battery was going out.

i felt that the EVO was doing the same thing...and the very next day, the car wont start. dead battery. i still have the panasonic battery..thinking of going to the dealership and see if i can get it changed out to the optima red top....or just **** the dealer and by it on my own. autozone will warranty it if anything.

Mine ('10 X) starts just like the video. (thabks ityn)
It does take it a second to turn off though. I turn the "key" to off and a second later it actually stops. I think it's pretty cool actually.

It might indeed be the priming of fuel pump. I first thought it is due to heat soak but it does it even when I try to start it the next morning, so it is ruled out I'll try waiting on ACC a bit next time, and see if it makes it start faster.

My starts in about two seconds. Rarely on cold nights, it takes a full four seconds sometimes.
