995 Miles on my Evo X and the battery has died twice....

So twice now the battery has died on my New 2011 Evo X GSR. I have Navi / S&S packages. I've had to get jumps twice to get my car running again.

I don't leave the lights on, i turn off all the accessories, the only thing that I think could be causing the problem is the tapping of wire for my V1 but I turn that off / unplug it everytime.

Anyone else have this problem? Should I call the dealership?

Have the dealer replace the battery which shouldnt be a problem at all. Sorry it happened man but all good, the dealer will replace it.

It may be the battery or it may be parasitic drain from the wire you tapped. The dealer will probably only replace the battery but since its under warranty its worth a shot.

My 2008 GSR had similar problems. Turns out the stock Panasonic battery was crap. Took it to the dealer and they replaced it with an Optima red top battery under warranty. After that it was perfect.

i think its the wire you tapped. It is possible for a bad battery but most likely your draining the system somewhere.

Uninstall your V1 hardwire, charge the battery, and see if you still have a problem.

I was thinking it was the v1 hardwired, but the only thing is everytime i turn the car off I will always unplug the v1 and store it so I don't think its draining power. I'll likely call the dealership in the morning.

Thanks for the suggestions.

@atombomb - I also have the Panasonic battery...

Before you take it to dealership make sure to get rid of all signs of the radar detector and do NOT tell the dealership about the radar detector. Just tell them the car's battery has died twice on you recently and has a tough time holding a charge. They'll test the battery, see that it's low, look for a TSB about the battery and should come back and tell you the battery will be replaced under warranty.

Did you use the Mitsu roadside assistance to get the battery jumped both times it died?

I obviously won't tell them about the radar detector, and no I didn't. I used services provided by the University I attend.

This must be why the x I just bought didn't have a single mod except the red top. It makes sense now, cause I thought that was an odd upgrade on a stock car.

How long is it between the times the battery has died? Could be a bad alternator too, thought that's probably the least likely candidate, imo. short > faulty battery > alternator

The two instances when the battery died was when I didn't drive the car for more than 3 or 4 days. Happened in the span of two weeks.

I'm 99.9% sure it's a short. The .1% is for a bad battery.

Of course, if an LA battery fully discharges a few times, I think I'd want a new one anyway.
