as the matter of fact we made a head to head test on , 60 mph pull with my friends 08 stage 2 Sti ..I put a good one car ahead of him ( by the way STI is 130lbs lighter and I am almost 90 lbs heavier than my buddy who's driving the STI so you are actually looking at additional 220lbs on GSR)..
now with Stage 2 , no STI can come close to me unless they change the turbo or something....

Handling, technology, driver involvement Evo also wins..so to the OP; you will not regret your decision
Yeah, I can see how a few extra pounds and better timing made my EJ257 feel amazing, where as the EJ255 in your 11 would of needed a lot of help. Piston #4 isn't friendly in the EJ255.

I can also agree 100% that just a tune and no mods on the GSR will likely out perform the mods and tune I had on my STi.

i love my eve, but how do you guys explain the fact that most car shows put the stir on the top place. The Stig was faster on top gears circuit in the sti. Why? You all insist the sti is a crappy car.
I never drove the new sti, but my buddy's 2007 is a great car and much faster than my evo. He does have bolt ons and a tune tho.

07 is the old hawkeye, the 08+ is when things went downhill. The cars will always be favored by one or the other. They really are close.

I just know that an EvoX with a tune and no bolt-ons will likely be faster than my 05 STi with bolt-ons + a really great tune.

I want to read all the excuses why your STI wasn't great.

This quote made me want to go have a look on NASIOC about what they do say about Evos. Strangely, the first thread I found was actually a proven power thread about an Evo X from one of the vendors (Motion Lab Tuning). Also, nobody on that site flames it. Hmmm.... NASIOC going soft on us?

Apparently they like the evo when they think we're not looking.

meh. I like rally cars, I don't get the whole gang warfare mentality. I'd like to have a 206, Focus, Xsara, Quattro, etc.

I know my IX is faster then my Bugeye. But I still get a huge grin everytime I switch from the IX to the Bugeye, I love the way it sounds, smells (HFC) sits, shifts (rebuilt 5spd with Legacy GT gears) and drifts.

I don't see anyone at nasioc saying that the an STi is as easy to mod or as fast as an Evo. They might be saying they are more reliable cars overall, or more comfortable or better looking or better sounding or nicer inside. But they're mainly just saying they love driving their badass cars and many if not most wish they had an Evo too.

I wanted an Evo IX but when I was in the market there was no '07 (obviously.) The X was brand new and I wasn't sure on picking up a brand new unproven 4B11T so I went with an '08 STi. I loved that car, but it did have some issues. No reason to bash the STi, it's a great car too, but the X is just an amazing performer.

Oh, and for the record, a stage 2 STi will walk all over a stock X, but that's where it ends. My X with all the bolt-ons hasn't been tuned yet and it's already faster than my STi. Can't wait for the tune.

you lost me there , what exactly you mean by EJ255 on 11 STI, all the STIs made after 2005 had EJ257

I owned/drove all the cars you mentioned above in addition to the other Citroen, Peugeot, Opel , Renault models ..trust me you're better off with your Evo .. Those cars never come with AWD, turbo(or even more than 250hp) as it does in WRC..I guess grass is always greener on the other side

I'm talking about homologated versions, not grocery getters.

And "grass is always greener" has nothing to do with it, in fact, it's the exact opposite of what I'm saying. I'm not sitting in my Evo claiming the grass is greener over here, i'm sitting in it in wonderment at all the various options that are available and wishing I could have one of each.

well, that is the thing; majority of these cars have small engines, FWD and designed to be "eco-grocery getters".. government taxes are pretty high in European countries, especially for the ones that have an engine size bigger than 2.0lt(not to mention the cost of gas).. so pretty much all the manufacturers make 1.2-1.6lt engines or small turbo diesel engines (1.2lt to 1.6lt also) .

.this is pretty much the best you can get
http://www.rsportscars.com/renault/2...ltsport-r26-r/

so Evos or STIs are light years ahead compared to any of those cars mentioned..
