8500 is a descent estimate. It all depends on the area, and the body shops. I've rebuild wrecked cars, but I've always stayed away from side impact damage.

there are some pretty funny comments on that forum . keep it until you find a reputable shop to fix it or i would even have it towed to the shop if i have to. 26k for an MR-T, hilarious.

oh and by the way i would probably just take that ad down.

pls let me know if you decide to part out.

Depending on where you are in WV, you always have the option of going to Pittsburgh PA or Virginia where more reputable shops that can handle your car's repair. $8500 to fix all of that seems quite low. Just be careful that the body shop doesn't low ball you (adding charges as they work on your car).

If the trade with extremedsm doesn't work out, part it out. The engine, tranny, tcase, rims, brake rotors, could possibly cover the amount u went out to buy it.

Most people would shy away from that frame coz its side damage. I'm not sure how much damage there really is, but if the previous owner hit a utility pole and does that much damage to the upper part, the frame might be tweaked even if the body shop says it's straight. Coz "straight frames" r debatable on salvage cars with that kind of damage. A shop could say the frame is straight if the frame is within reasonable margin.

But for ur sake, I hope it's straight frame and the shop isn't just trying to get ur money. I only say this coz I had an accident before and though the damage is minimal, not as much as urs, the insurance company and the shop I took it too said the frame is tweaked. Insurance totaled the car since theres "frame damage". And just to remind u, the damage wasn't as severe as urs.

In any case, good luck on this. And if the trade doesn't work out, part it out. U will get ur money back by parting it out.

If the SST proves out to be non-operable, I'll buy the TCU from it.

If the trans is broken, it will be going to South Side Performance for repair.

Def put it on a laser frame machine....a hit to the side will screw with a unibody frame..been there; done that
