What I'm trying to get at with this, is that this is a means of cross-referencing gains from same parts/ different dynos.

EDIT: ok this has been over thought from thinking too much due to an attempt at contemplation

Yeah, not a finance analyst, just a *nix system's admin, but did my BS in CompSci, so had to take all the math classes, and I suck at math.

If anyone cares when I was doing my example, to get the math right, and since I suck at even multiplying like a 3rd grader, I just wrote a function in LUA and ran the function with the numbers. (LUA is used in World of Warcraft addons, for the socially awkward nerds on here)

hpgain = function(new,old)
if not(new and old) and ((type(new) ~= "number") or (type(old) ~= "number")) then
return "Fail. hpgain( new#, old# )"
else
return string.format("%.2f",((new-old)/new)*100)
end
end

And my laziness pays off by just putting it in like this:

> return hpgain(350,300)
14.29

and for error trapping
> return hpgain()
Fail. hpgain( new#, old# )

> return hpgain(350)
Fail. hpgain( new#, old# )

enjoy

Oh sorry I should have clarified, my post
Not everyone understands statistical finance (Financial Analyst, right here), so I'm trying something user friendly. And look how 'difficult' it is for people to grasp already, could you image actually trying basis points on this crowd....

%ages are for losers. We should be using basis points.

I understand the math you're doing, and can probably figure out basis points..

It's not that difficult - It's just that my brain refuses to let me enjoy doing any part of it in my freetime

So how would you account for same mods different tunes? The tuner would be needed to be recognized in the list of mods?

All you would do in that case is do a before and after dyno pull, get your % gain, then compare to someone else with the same mods but a different tuner. You would need to compare to their % gain, not their raw whp gain.

If your happy with the work your tuner did for you, why wouldn't you mention them? Who cares what numbers what car puts out, if a tuner listens to your objectives with your car and worked to make it happen, even if it's a long process, give them credit.

I'm sure the tuner and others that will learn of the tuner because of what you say will appreciate it

Most people on here seem very comfortable with listing their tuner in their mod list. Not my Evo, but my STi was tuned from Phuong of Wingz Performance. He's amazing. Treats every customer as a friend, and is willing to respond to every text message and phone call for any stupid question. If you live in AZ I'd highly recommend him for any car (but his forte is Evos). Also, if you're in AZ I give props to Tony @UMS, and estuned and iaproformance down in Tucson have a great rep too on the local forum.

I originally had an AP in my STi (still have it in the box in the closet), then I went opensource with Phuong from Wingz.

I know Phuong doesn't do AP, he does opensource tunes. Tony @UMS also doesn't do APs. I think he uses EcuTek flashes, but I very well could be wrong.

But, I think Goodspeed does AP tunes. The guy that works out of there is Clark Turner (he's internationally known in the SuperPoo world, and he's the one I had the AP tune from). I didn't have a bad experience with my tune, but I went to Phuong because my BOV was leaking at 12+psi and my primary O2 and MAF were failing. Clark tuned out the problems....Phuong identified the problems, helped me fix them (his labor was dirt cheap and he has super asian powers on how fast he is), and then flashed me not for power, but drivability like I asked for. So I'm not saying Clark is bad at all, just didn't work for me, so Goodspeed might be good to look into.

Also up in north Scottsdale is DynoComp. Rich is also internationally known. I just had the impression they cared more about their customers with Porches and high end exotics than about my questions on their labor, so I didn't use them. But, Rich and his cars have been featured on a lot of Speed Channel stuff, and magazine articles galore. I'm not sure about Evan at estuned or the guys at IAPerformance in Tuscon either.

Feel free to hop on azawd.org and ask away. It's quite the community. No this make, that make hate (except for the dude with the AWD volvo -- lol j/k).

Also if you decide to check out opensource as an option, jump on wingzperformance.com Phuong has a huge following of customers and we all use the forums on his site to chat.

One thing you have to remember is the first 50hp are the easiest hp to get. After that, each additional hp becomes harder to achieve. So, things aren't exactly equal.
