Steering wheel shakes when accelerating first time on the freeway in the morning?

Hey guys, this happens from time to time, but I get some vibration/shaking from my steering wheel when I accelerate on the freeway in the morning (usually in high gear like 5th or 6th). I assume the car is still not warmed up and this could be normal? However it stays in the garage all night so it's not like the car is freezing cold. Anyone else experience this? The shaking goes away in a few minutes on the freeway.

I usually get this if the temp is below 40° and I'm doing 50MPH or higher.. it only seems to last for maybe a few minutes at most.

I've always assumed it was just the tire compound warming up or maybe a slight drop in tire pressure due to colder weather.

There's another recent thread about the issue here..

Yup. First thing to check when vibration is temp-dependent is tire pressures.

If it happens first thing in the morning, then it's a simple case of the tires flat spotting over night...

The evo is not a light car lol...

I agree with the above post... if you get a vibration when you first start driving but it quickly goes away... that's likely the tires flat spotting. The tires develop a flat spot when you park... and as you drive over the flat spot you feel a vibration. Then the tires smooth out as you drive and it feels normal again.

If it's only when it's cold out, it's because the rubber of the stock Advan's gets too firm, these tires don't like the cold.
