damage estimate?

Somehow my car gets hit by something while it is parked on my friend's driveway. The driveway is fairly long and wide so there is the possibility that someone came in and either made a u-turn on the drive way, hit my car, and just drove off. Doesn't look like there is any other damage to anywhere else on my car, so it could possibly be a car that was backing up and turning and the wheel went directly into the door/bumper?

Called the police and they were kind of baffled as to how a car would have done that and not hit any other part of my car with their bumper. The officer said he would put down that it was a hit and run on the report.

Can anyone chime in with some damage guesstimates?

Also, any recommended body shops in the central/northern new jersey area?

Ouch. If you have uninsured/underinsured coverage, give your company a call - that does not look like it'll be cheap. I had a similar hit on my e39 that ended up running $8500 to fix.

Just want to let you know. I just had a whole left side accident, and the parts come roughly $8000 with front rear bumpers, side skirt, 2 doors, headlights, and some internal parts damage.
The total comes about 12000, and it's a shop that fixes exotics like bentley, mercedes and etc. I think it's no more than 3-4k.

Sorry to hear! It will come back around to the person that did that. Good luck with the estimate and repairs.

I would say around 5k. New skirt, new door skin, and repairing the part by the wheel well that is part of the main body and not a panel will be real expensive. The they will have to paint most of the one side of your car to blend it in. Wont be cheap. Good thing you have insurence. Sucks it will now be on your carfax. Make sure you take before and after pics and possibly during the fix for when you resell the car. You may need them.

The estimate I got yesterday from the insurance agent is quoting the job to be about $2k, but I'm sure that will balloon up since the shop themselves didn't even take a look at it yet. Need a new door shell and body work to the rear panel. They say they are going to try to repair the side skirt, but if it turns out it can't be repaired, it will be replaced.

+1 for full coverage insurance... just sucks that I still have to shell out my $500 deductible. I think the worst part is just not knowing who did it though...

Going to have the work done at this shop called Frankie's Auto Body in Edison, NJ. Saw them working on another Evo X in there as well actually.
