Quiet my exhaust

I recently completed my first MOD, an ETS V2 catback exhaust. The sound is terrific. Since this is my DD, I’m afraid the sound may grate on my nerves after a while. I drive a lot downtown Washington DC for my job. The other day while parallel parking, I set off the alarm on the Subaru Forrester behind me. Did not know I can do that, though it was funny and the construction workers standing around watching me park thought it was funny to. I don’t want to pull the exhaust and install a quieter model because of the expense, and I’m not going back to the stock exhaust since I’m continuing my MODs, I have an AMS widemouth on order. Is there a way to tone down to sound? Thanks for any suggestions.

You can either try to install a resonator, or call up ETS and see what they can do for you by ordering their quiet muffler. I would just save up and swap the muffler part, because adding a resonator in might make the resale value go down, if you ever decide to sell the exhaust.

The V2 is a pretty good bit louder than their quieter model, and the only difference is the muffler portion. So, I say you should either, 1- learn to love/live with it, or 2-spend a couple extra hundred bucks by ordering the muffler and get it to where you want.

Have someone weld in an extra resonator ... or maybe ets sells a silencer. Both are kinda silly as you will loose power.

Try to live with it, and if its unbearable, then re-MOD.

You could sell your lightly used v2 muffler in the classified section and buy a quiet muffler from ETS because they look like they use the same piping. That might be cheaper than welding in a resonator or a upstream muffler...

Thanks. I think just getting the quieter ETS muffler will work. I'll contact Mike at ETS. Since the muffler only has less than two hundred miles and there was a lot of issues with the original deliveyr, he will cut me a deal on a trade.

Adding the AMS Widemouth will not make it any quieter.

It appears the ETS midpipe is the same on all their exhausts, makes me wonder why they don't offer the muffler or resonated sections for sale separately on the site (for situations like yours or if people want to be able to switch for track / street sound levels)

I would go for this. I love my T1R and researched a ton before I found the quietest exhaust I could find.

ETS V2-Quiet Edition is the way to go bro. But like RedBaron stated, definitely not going to make it quieter by adding an AMS widemouth. Or a O2 eliminator DP for that matter. Pretty much any aftermarket DP will make the exhaust louder. The muffler will quiet it down coming out the end though but you're going to still hear it inside the cab.

That is my concern. If it's loud now what will it sound like with the widemouth and high flow cat and new intake. Mike from ETS will give me a good discount on just the V2 Quiet muffler. The pipe is the same on both models. The extra cost will be offset by selling my stock exhaust to a kid who wants to weld it to his 92 Corrolla. Crazy kids!

High Flow cat will muffle the sound as well as the Quiet Edition Muffler. But that DP will make it roar during WOT conditions. Shouldn't be too bad at highway speeds...you can always re-mod if you have to. Lots of people want that AMS Widemouth DP.
