diagnose this screetch sound!
Hi everyone I hope you can help me out! After a couple hard pulls I noticed an odd sound coming from what appears somewhere directly under my dash. Can't tell if it is coming from near the radio or directly by the steering wheel. It sounds exactly like pinching the end of a balloon and it makes an screetching release sound. My car idles perfectly fine, I can see myself hitting a 27psi spike on the boost gauge, and I am able to replicate the sound in all gears. It starts happening when I hit 10+ psi of boost and it is not RPM dependent. The car is very drivable and I don't notice anything strange when banging through the gears with the screetch happening.
I pulled into a local wawa and did a quick check of the visible skinny tubes and they appear to be tight. I also wiggled the silicone couplers connecting the BOV to the intake and from the BOV to the LICP for a minute and didn't notice anything lose. I was wondering what the best way to approach this would be or if anyone can comment on anything specific I should pay special attention to.
I recently had an ETS licp installed, my stock diverter valve put back on. This is hooked up to an ETS intake.
The only other mod I can see as a possible culprit would be somewhere along the tubo back exhaust, but I can rev it to hell on idle without experiencing the screetch sound.
Here is a video of the exact same sound I am experiencing but a bit higher pitched, but this guy seems to have it far worse. I drive an X and yes I know the vid is a sooby.
Also I am certain it isn't the sound of the intake going whooosh because that sound is already there and this overpowers it.

^^ Lol. OP has an Evo X, not a Subi.
Think he just posted the vid of the Subaru since it had the same "sound" that he was experiencing with his car.
Anyway.. Steve, you'd probably get better info if you had this thread moved to the Engine / Turbo / Drivetrain sub-forum.

were you spiking to 27 psi before you could hear the sound? Did the sound start right after the install of the parts? Could be a small boost leak which could cause the spike and the sound.
Still looking for a place to work on my car :/
Visually inspected the couplers again and they all seem really tight and not moving around.
Found another video, except mine is less loud.

That is a loose coupler/intercooler pipe. Mine was the one from the intercooler to the upper pipe. If you just got the lower pipe installed maybe they tightened the hose clamp so tight that it mess it up..?
We will see after the leak test. I can't be playing find the needle in the haystack myself.
Too busy with working full-time and finishing up my graduate degree.
Although I did double check everything. You gotta give me that. Must be a small leak.
I know Keith @ TurboTrix will murder the issue tomorrow though. He's helped me out before
Hopefully if there are more, we find em too!
it's like driving a sports car with a carn horn... with another clown horn bahaha
I need to write a 28 page lvl. 585 marketing plan paper toward the end of the week. ne1 wanna pitch some ideas on inventions for cars ^_^
