new is usually the way to go> at least here in canada if u have good credit new cars are 0% interest. and used are 4.9% so when u factor the interest into the equation, its worth to buy new. unless its a crazy deal and you plan on modding anyway. ( so warranty is void anyway)

I would say new but it also depend if you could find one with very low miles. You don't know how the previous owner took care of the car, If you get used depend on how previous drove the car so you will have to have money saved for clutch just incase clutch start to slip.

something special about getting a new car.. don't mind for maybe the family suv, daily driving sedan or w/e, but for "your" personal "performance" car, i dont think you'll be satisfied inside if you're not the first owner

I went used and no regrets, but I was very picky.

My criteria:

1. not modded
2. plenty of warranty left(atleast 1 year of bumper to bumper)
3. car was taken care of(service records)
4. very low miles(15k or less)
5. like new inside and out
6. owned by an adult

You are still taking a small risk going used, but the more careful you are the less chance of having an issue. The savings can far out way the risk if you are selective.

In 2011 I got a fullly loaded 2008 MR with 13k miles that looks new with all the criteria above for $30k. It was well worth the savings and not one single issue so far.

If you can find a used in good condition and good price i'd say go for it. I got mine used with 21k miles so it had plenty of warranty left. Also saved ~8k compared to the new 2011 i was looking at so i can make whatever modifications i want without worrying about price all that much.

As long as its in good shape get it used and save some money. Then you can put the saved money towards mods

This was my exact criteria as well. I was very picky. In my case, the car did have a couple mods....cat back and a short shifter. But the car was perfectly maintained and owned by an older gentlemen. I figured paying $26k for a nearly new condition 12k mile evo was a pretty good deal. That was a little over a year ago and I've had no problems. My bumper to bumper expires this month, but I have till Jan 2014 till the drivetrain warranty is done. I'm very happy with my decision.
