This is an interesting posting all in all. Really what your discussion is other folks needing to make eachother feel better about the car we drive by acknowledging eachother in some way. Come on guys, really? Well " we can't all just get along" ---. Face it people are different as the age of people that drive evo's. I for one, have kids that are likely the age of the average EVO owner. I dont care, I drive what I drive cause I want to drive it--not to be accepted. I don't join car clubs beacuse of all the bench racing and guys with more dollars then sense and the amount of poor judgement that come in large groups of testerone laden ones. I dont wave to other EVO owners either or to any one for that matter, I just drive. Try it, its liberating.

I didn't know the Evo crowd did the "wave" thing. I have probably ignored my fair share of other 8's,9's and 10's. You would think I would be use to the wave thing after owning a Corvette and STI since both groups do it but I guess not.

With that said I'm still not a fan of the X's at all but if you wave at me I'll wave back.

By me it's a hit or miss. I've talk to other Evo drivers at meets and had a blast and it didnt matter which year evo you had. sometimes there will be others that won't even look at you like there are better the you and it's childish I think.

I figured any group of car drivers/enthusiasts who consider themselves part of a community, waved at one another. Just kind of nice way of showing appreciation of the others car.

I used to wave all the time when I had my STI, even sometimes base model Imprezas would wave, I've gotten waves, nods, and thumbs up from other cars. With the Evo I have not yet gotten a single wave from another Subie or Evo. I've had almost all positive experiences with my car though, even with muscle cars and other imports.

It seems that there is a rivalry between the STI and the Evo(obviously), but I think many guys take it too personally. Even when I had my STI I waved to Evos, and I'd say half returned it...

Actually, I'm not too young to remember. A 1989 944 Turbo once graced my stable.

Exactly. I wave or give a thumbs up to anyone in an STI, Evo, GTR, R32 etc and
%90 of the time they enthusiastically wave back. It's like a secret that only we know. We did the research, we know what's up.
There's a better smarter safer cheaper way to go fast and take corners than just throw massive HP to rear wheels.

But hey, we're all car enthusiasts and I'll nod or wave to anyone in a cool car.
Shows everyone that Evo drivers are cool and respect great engineering.

Typically AMG's, M series, Lotus, Mazerati (dealership nearby so there's several in NoVa), Vettes etc don't wave back cause they are rich and don't care. Whatever hozers, you don't deserve that car that daddy bought you. I'll see you in a ditch a mile up cause you don't know how to control power.

I moved to Hawaii about a month ago. I've hung out with evo/lancer guys the last couple of weekends and it's been a blast. There are more 8/9s than X's, but there doesn't seem to be any competition/drama amongst anyone. It's really chill. I wave and people wave back.

For me, it's the other way around. I drive a IX MR, I flash my lights to STIs and all EVOs but the Xs seems the one who are ******. I was in an intersection and I saw a Graphite Grey X, both of us are in front of the line on the opposite side of the road. I flashed my lights twice and I don't get any response. I flashed again and nothing. We he passed for the turn lane he flicked the middle finger instead. I was like, WTF?!

Everytime I flash my lights or wave, it's the X guys seem to think they are high and mighty

By "flashing your lights" do you mean you are blinding them with high beams?
I would flick someone off that did that to me.

If you mean turning your lights off and then on, that's slightly less annoying but around where I live that means there's a cop speed trap up ahead.

If you make eye contact and nod or thumbs up that's usually met with a friendly response unless the guy is a douchebag.

That's because the 8-9 guys know they have a faster EVO. The X guys know that and are pissed whenever they see an 8-9 on the road for that reason.
That's what I think, after all I don't see to many 500+whp X's, 8-9 like water.
Lol

Who cares who's car is faster? If someone else has a faster car than me, I'm not going to be a ***** to them. I'm going to wave and say "hey, nice car".

I don't need to prove how big my "driveshaft" is, or how much HP I have.

I think there is way too much thought put into this subject.

As far as i can see this is just another drama thread.

It is a person behavior and uou cant do anything about it.

Waving really? No one has ever waved at any of my cars. 85 omni,86 f-150 ect... However people did wave at my 71 coup deville, pretty sure it was to let me know there was a enough room to turn the ship.
All the evo people i have met through this forum have been outstanding including vendors and shops. I do a few Poker Runs a year and the last one at a check point my car was idling really funny. Just from knowlege from forum i knew it was a hose of some sort that popped off. Popped my hood and started looking around. Before i knew it one of the evo guys was under there with me. I went to look for something in the car came back and ( i wish i could remember his name) had already used his own ziptie and fixed the culprit. He checked on me at every other checkpoint too. There is another guy chaotichoax i was buying rims from, i was really late getting out of nyc, so i was even later than when we agreed to meet. He waited in pouring rain for almost an hour. I felt so bad but he was really cool and no problems.
The community has been superb when it has counted in my experiance. I personally do wave or beep at every lancer i come across unless im with my wife, she slaps me and questions my age.
