Dealer flash, now P0420?

Hi all -

A few weeks ago I took my car in to have the dealer reset my TPMS sensors for my winter setup. While they were doing it the guy tells me there is a "recall" for the AWC, and that because its a safety issue they have to flash the ECU. Now my understanding is the computer for the AWC is separate to the main ECU, but I was hesitant and told him that I haven't had any AWC issues and would prefer that they don't do it. He said legally they had to do it (which is bogus because they never sent me anything regarding the recall, and if I hadn't brought it in, they wouldn't have done it).

Anyways, long story short, I leave the dealership, and about 50 miles later my CEL comes on, throwing a P0420 code. I cleared it several times but it keeps coming back.

My 2 questions - 1) do you think they AWC flash may have caused it? It seems like too much of a coincidence.
2) I bought the Cataclean fluid to clean the catalytic converter. Does anyone have any experience with this product.

Thanks in advance,

After having been tuned for about 2 years. Haven't done any performance mods on the car since the tune. And was at the dealership about 2 weeks ago

AWC shouldn't have anything to do with the CEL you're getting, unless they managed to physically damage the O2 sensors some how.

1. I'm surprised that your ecu wasnt locked, some tuners lock them.
2. If it wasnt locked and they flashed your ecu them im guessing they threw the stock tune back on and now you are overboosting.

While it both wrong and obnoxious for them to reflash your S-AWC when you said not to, what they did is actually a good thing. It's the delayed-start-when-cold reflash.
