New Rear Bumper Cost?

I scraped a wall the other day with my car which cracked and scuffed my rear bumper (Driver's side corner). I'm actually shocked at how well it held up.

I am contemplating buying a new one, which will include getting it installed and painted. Any idea how much this might run?

-New bumper for Evo X 2011
-Painted Phantom Black
-Installation

(Rear diffuser is a little scraped, but doesn't look bad - I assume this is seperate piece from the rear bumper)

The other option is to leave it as is for a while, because I live in the city (Boston) and know it is get dinged again sooner or later.

I will be paying out of pocket since my insurance deductable is about $1,000 and I expect the bumper w paint and installation to run somewhere around that area.

Not that it is a huge factor but I just dropped $600 on an AccessPort today as the "fun factor" is a more important factor than cosmetics for me right now, especially knowing the city will leave it banged and bruised eventually.

Would you get it fixed or use it as a positive not to worry about the car as much knowing it is already cosmetic flawed

Thanks

If you know its going to get scrapped up more in the future, then I would say don't worry about it for now. Until you live somewhere that it can truly be looked after, plus with your want for fun over looks, maybe just get some paint to make the scuffs go away (depending on if you could even just buff it out) and deal with the crack later.

In the end it is your choice. Where I live, I would get it done, but I am not in a big city worrying about dings in my car very often anyway.

You can fix/paint, then install yourself... a LOT cheaper... then save buying one for when you actually needed, like (God forbid/knock on wood) a rear-ending from someone :\

I did (somewhat) the same to mine with a stupid poll of the Wal-Mart cart return rails that I didn't see at night

I got it filled and painted for $80 locally.

But to answer your Q... it was about $600 the last time I asked, for an unpainted rear bumper

^That is a great idea! Maybe I can just get the small crack filled, bumper sanded and repainted. Since I don't need it 100% this might be a great soultion thanks!.

Yea just getting it fixed would be cheaper. Bumper is around $6xx and paint is around 200-300.. Just know going in that the PB will be more expensive and harder to mix the right paint. If I had to guess it would be like $200ish..

And yes the diffuser is a separate piece all together..

If I do go with a new bumper and rear diffuser, any suggestions on solid aftermarket parts? I figure if I'm going to be some $$$ out of pocket I might as well get something nice if it is going to cost the same price as the stock parts.

Thanks

If you like carbon I think Rexpeed has a carbon diffuser.

Btw, off topic for anyone that knows....is there anyway to check if the parts on my car are OEM? Because I got my car repainted and repaired and was curious...obv. they look OEM but not sure if they even make OEm style replica parts.

As far as I know, nobody really makes any stock looking aftermarket bumpers.

And I would agree with Sev, the only "nice" looking thing you could get is a CF diffuser, like a Seibon or Rexpeed or something, but that is all up to you. Might have to be dealer only stuff, unless you are wanting to drop like 6k and get a really nice full body kit installed..

Yeah, I did some googling and only saw carbon ones that are "OEM Style". Like he said, if you want an amazing looking kit invest in the authentic FQ400 pieces.

Does insurance companies pay when that happened and you decide to just buy, let's say an fq400 kit. I'm thinking just in case something like that happen to me i'll just replace it with an fq400.

Well, the front bumper w/ lip (I think) is almost $3K. So it'll be a bit hard to convince them to get that for you.

Yea for the whole FQ400 kit + install + paint, you would prolly be looking at around $9000. If you went that route, insurance would pay you for whatever is damaged and give you a check for the stock parts.. you might get around 1000 depending on what parts are messed up..

When someone backed into me on base, I filed a claim and got a quote in North Dakota for 1600 to replace the bumper and tail lights. Then my grandmother passed away :/ so I drove back to NY. It was the last time I was home before I left for Afghanistan (still here damnit) so I left my old car in NY and got a quote there. It was stupid high something like 3200. So USAA gave me a check for $1600... so I bought a CF trunk and LED Tails and had them both installed for less than 1600 haha. I made money
