Difference between MPG dash readouts

there are two MPG read outs with the bars and triangles, i understand the triangle to be the average, and the bar to be the current MPG, but whats the difference between the two values (A & B) or maybe its (A & M, forgot to look again)? Are they calculated differently? Also is there a way to get it to stop resetting after sitting for X amount of time, also how long is it when its resetting? I know i can manually reset it on gas ups, but id rather leave it tallying for an entire tank not just one day.

Even on manual "M" mode, it will automatically switch to auto "A" mode.. and in auto mode, the average MPG will reset itself after the car has been shut off for around 4 hours.

It's gotta be the dumbest thing I've ever heard of.

Actually, I think there's a way to override the automatic switch from manual to auto reset.. but it would involve going into the setup and switching back to manual each time (either when you shut your car off, or before you start it again - not sure which).

Dumbest. Thing. Ever.

Agreed. It doesn't provide an accurate reading for MPGs per day/month. The only way to really calculate it is to track how many miles you drive in a month and how many gallons of gas (exactly) you put in.

regardless if you could actually get it to not reset you still wont get what you are talking about. from what iv read in the manual and how the data shows up in the displays of the navi, all the readings are based on a rolling average. so you would only every have 4 hours of data lets say. this makes way more sense anyways since you dont have to worry about ever going over a bandwidth limit...it just tosses the old stuff and puts new stuff in.

get a car app for your phone, they work great
