Exclamation The Ultimate Milage and Gas Milage Thread!

Hi I'm new inhere. My fiancee bought a 2002 Lancer OZ automatic about two months ago. She complained to me last week that it seems to burn more gas than her old eclipse (1.8 auto 1994 base model) did. So we waited till the gasoline light lit up, reset the trip meter, got 11 gallons of gas and she drove it for roughly 250 miles before the light went on again. Now, that averages to only just over 22mpg. Doesn't that seem high to you guys? What does everyone else average here?

Ps. My RSX averages just over 28mpg, but it's got a manual tranny.

average 3/4 of driving is highway, 1/4 city

avg 290-310 miles per tank

I have a 5 speed, with about 75lbs (maybe more) of stereo in the trunk.

Hmm, maybe it's cause she has had allot of city driving lately and she has an auto. I'll have to look into it a bit more.

I do alot of highway driving and have found that if I keep my rpms at or below 3000 (70-75 mph) I can get 34-36 mpg or 370 miles on a full tank. Unfortuantly I have only been able to get these results once because I love to drive with my foot to the floor. I still usually get around 300 miles per tank though with my manual transmission.

I have an auto as well, and I see around 21-22 mpg. I drive mostly 5 minute trips to campus and back to my apartment, and I tend to drive with a heavy foot. (Gotta hear that RMR intake) So those figures arent too far off. My car has about 4500 miles on it too.

I have a OZ 5sp, I average around 25 mpg when is was brand new and now I'm getting around 28 mpg, most suburban driving. Somewhere around 285 miles before the light goes on.

I have a 5spd and normally average around 30-32 mpg unless I'm on a long trip and then it gets closer to 35-37mpg.

wow! I didn't know you aussies were paying so much down there... 4 liters = 1 gallon, so you're paying about $3 per gallon...
I'm paying about $1.50-1.70 per gallon, and that varies among each regoin within the states.

I'm fairly certain that's because we refine more oil than most countries, and are probably the single biggest consumers of it than anything else.

Most states in the US with ports and refineries, including most of the eastern seaboard, have lower gas prices. From what I remember, Georgia's one of the lowest. For reference Regular unleaded is around $1.29 per gallon here and super (usually around 93 octane) is about $1.44.

Thumbs up Amazing Gas Mileage!

Just thought I would share this with all of you. I live in NJ and I drove down to Myrtle Beach, SC this past month. My mods are Injen CAI, Test Pipe, and Greddy Evo Catback. I left at 1:00am so the air was cool and clean not humid. I was in 5th gear the whole time driving down. I am not 100% exactly sure how many miles I got but I know I set the mile trip to 0 and left with a full tank of Supreme Gas (Which I always fill my car with). With 3/4 gone I was at 387 miles. So I filled up again when I hit 1/4 of a tank left. So like I said I can't say how many miles I got exactly but we can guess well over 400. Pretty sweet!
