The Ultimate Milage and Gas Milage Thread!
gas mileage
i have lancer 2003 LS...i bought it like in Nov and it has about 3400 miles on it. I drove to chicago for x'mas from st louis..on I-55...it's a pretty flat highway and i was on cruise control at 78mph...but my car didn't get a 30mpg mileage like it says on window sticker...can someone please tell me why?
Because you're not in the economical zone.
Keep it under 3000RPM this means 70Mph or lower. You'll put down 34 a gallon like I do on long trips if you follow that rule.
And I've taken that same trip, so I know it can be done.

One of the main reasons that the speed limits are what they are is that cars are designed to get the best MPG around 60mph.
Or maybe it's the other way and the cars are designed around the speed limit, but still, you get the picture.

dang im almost all city and im only getting 230 before the fuel light comes on...and im all stock...i need to stop racing all the old ladies at every red light lol.
than again..i have a tendency to do 80+mph on the interstate instead of 65-70....it just seems so slow...
and the other day i did get it to 115 on the interstate cuz i was bored

Well, I generally drive highway, and push 80 to 90 for 60 miles of my 80 mile round trip.
I still put down 310 on a tank before the light. It's all based on how fast you get to 80 and how you drive light to light.
On a real long trip, where you can maintain ~70 MPH without city driving, you can get about 340 on a full tank.

Check stuff like your spark plugs, oil, maybe even your air filter. Although with such a new car like yours, I doubt any of those things are factors.
Even with all my mods and driving mostly city, I can still throw down almost 300 miles per tank and still fill up only about 12 gallons every time. I've been tracking my mileage and mods for months and I'm at my lowest of around 24-25 mpg with my current setup.
