Pretty much the same boat as you man. I am trading in my 03 G35 Coupe for an 08 Evo X on Friday. I have driven both the Evo VIII and Evo X and have ridden in the Evo IX. Personally, from what I can tell, the Evo X is a more comfy drive, roomier, more grownup than the VIII. I cant really compare speed because the VIII was modded and the X is stock but still felt quick. (Gotta love turbo!) I can't wait! You should definitely go with the X instead of the STI. I hear you're building motors after 340whp whereas the X can handle 400whp daily driven. Just my two cents...

+1 for the evo. You are on an evo forum after all. I used to have a 2008 bmw 135i before that I had a 1997 honda prelude 5 speed. I autocrossed the hell out of the prelude, awesome times for a pretty much slow car lol.

The bmw was a mistake. I wish I went the evo the first time around, it woulda saved me $$ in the long scheme of things.

But you live and learn. Evo 8 , 9 or X you cant go wrong. Be warned though, once you go evo all the other cars barring some exceptions you will feel they handle like floaty boats.

I've owned an 03 WRX, 05 STi, and 06 Evo IX.

I'm going to have to say, go with the evo man, you won't be upset.

test drive and check your insurance for quotes... those two will be the deciding factors...

I was going to buy a brand new 2011 STI last year, but at the time, none of the dealerships had any. They all said they wouldnt get them in for a few months. So I went to look at some Evos. I ended up buying an Evo X. The biggest reasons why I wanted an Evo or STI is because they are AWD, handle great, nice power...etc. Its a car that is fun right out of the box and I dont really have to do many mods to be happy. I think I saved money that way. I just wish I had a little more money, so I could have maybe bought the Evo MR. But then again, maybe that would have been a mistake.
