2012 Evo X switching back to conventional oil-not true!
throw a wrench into this......going back a 'couple' years, but you were never supposed to use synthetic for the first oil change. Reg. oil was preferred cause it helped the rings break in better. This idea has faded away over the years, however......Hyundai with the new Genesis came back to this theory and maybe mitsu is considering it too?
New theory: Mitsu has decided that dino oil is, for reasons that I can't even guess, less likely to contribute to timing-chain stretch, at least with the revised chain. If Mitsu is good at anything post-sale, it's dodging warranty work. If they have a way to avoid timing-chain issues, they'll do it.
I'm sure that there are several holes in my theory, but it's my theory, so I love it and will defend it to the death. Or until my timing chain stretches and snaps. Whichever comes first.

- DO NOT use conventional petroleum based motor oil. Using conventional motor oil may cause engine or turbocharger damage.
- DO NOT use "blends" of conventional oil and synthetic oil.
- Use ONLY fully synthetic engine oils displaying ILSAC certification symbol or conforming to the API classification SM or higher. If the correct oil is not used, any oil-related engine or turbocharger failure, along with any peripheral engine or powertrain damage, will not be covered by your warranty.
When I switched to a synthetic oil in my civic the mpg when down,i don't know why but it did.alot of guys with high hp cars will not use synthetic oil.when braking in a motorcycle synthetic oil can't be use it won't seal the engine parts right.
My dealership says for 2008-2011 the mitsubishi corp says to use Mobil 1 full synthetic , But for 2012, the dealership found it very strange that mitsu corp says to use conventional oil. Therefore thats what they would recommend me because mitsubishi says so... but they said of course its my money and i can do as i please... i just find it weird and annoying and would like to know why did mitsu want to switch back to conventional oil
