Arrow 2012 Evo X switching back to conventional oil-not true!

My dealership got a new service notice saying that the 2012 EVO X should be using regular conventional oil instead of synthetic !!?? So They recommend that I stick to what mitsubishi is recommending which is conventional oil and oil change at 3000miles ...

So the one free oil change is going to be conventional oil

Did they show you this service notice? Its probably the dealership telling you that because the conventional oil is much cheaper. And since its a free oil change, theyre probably just trying to save some money. I may be wrong. But they would need to do more than just tell me that Mitsubishi said that. The 2012 is pretty much the same car since 08. Why now all of a sudden it needs conventional oil? Makes no sense.

Yea, I wouldn't use conventional oil.

Does the engine cover no longer have a Mobil 1 sticker?

This is a big deal (since the wrong oil can void the warranty). I'd be calling Mitsu Corporate today. Something stinks.

Someone check the 2012 owner's manual, my 2010 booklet clearly states synthetic oil only.

If no 2012 owners check it first, I'll check it when I get off in a few hours and let everyone know.

Yea I'd ask to see the service notice, and I wouldn't let the dealer within 20ft of my car.

Notice you are from NJ. Did you buy the car there? If so which dealer?

It sounds very sketch to me.

If anything check the manual and also call another mitsu's dealer and see what they tell you.

Would use only synthetic oil. Do a check on the dealership, then do the service yourself to make sure you know what is going in your evo. I never took my car in for the free service due to the fact didn't want someone else driving my car or servicing it with out my eyes overlooking the work.

I know that in my 2011 UPDATED warranty manual, It clearly state to ONLY use Mobil 1 5w40 fully synthetic motor oil. Dealer gave me this updated manual in January. I'm in Canada, but it's the exact same engine...
