Arrow A question for all MR owners

If the STI offered a dual clutch transmission would you have bought the STI over the Evo?

All other things being what they are, not a chance I would have gone with the STI over the EVO.

Yeah i was going to go for the STi till i saw that the Evo had the SST. I love the grumble of the H-4 but i love my Evo also.

I would have went with an MR if I had to deal with a lot of traffic. I wonder why Subaru doesn't offer a SST?

I would have definitely considered it. The SST is so superior to a manual, the STi was immediately off my list. I think the Evo still would have won though.

I don't have a MR but have owned a few direct shift boxes and I think they are great for everywhere except parking lots and heavy traffic. I always find myself wishing for a manual clutch at low speeds.

Lmao!

One of my friends with an '06 WRX says to me the other day "Hey Subaru, Kia called, says they want their tailights back..."

I wouldn't be caught dead in an STi (whether manual or twin-clutch auto)... just because the local STi owners are such punks/unfriendly gents... I wouldn't want to have the same reputation

I wanted an evo since I was 13 so simple answer NO but I still looked at the STI and wanted to see how it drove and felt. My perspective of things... If you are going to throw **** at something you gotta be in the situation of being thrown **** at. Dont dish out what you cannot take so I was "interested" in the STI before I got the evo.

Evo handles alot better than the STI, looks a lot better than the STI (stock vs stock). STI looks like **** if you dont get coilovers (springs wont cut it because the shocks are terrible, evo mr has bilstein...) change up the wheels etc...

Next car will be dual-clutch....

I currently have a GSR. But because I get get stuck in rush-hour traffic sometimes, I want my next car to have a dual-clutch tranny. I would consider moving to a dual-clutch STI or WRX but they don't exist (I used to own a WRX - it was a great car, and I've got no bad feelings towards Subaru).

Although I love my GSR - I like to try different cars so the EVO MR gets excluded for that reason. My short-list: Audi S4, Porsche Cayman, or BMW 1 in the summer or fall. Learning towards the S4. I wish the Golf R, STI, 370z, or Audi TT-RS had a Dual-clutch option.

After owning an STi and then going to the Evo and experiencing both. I in NO WAY would ever give up that most awesome 6spd in the STi.

Only two things I really hate about my Evo and might even cause me to go back to an STi (now that they are available as sedans again). 6spd MT and the boxer rumble of the exhaust.

....if only they could fix the ringland cracking issue :-/
