i used to own 2009 evo ix se, i didnt like the notchy feeling of the transmission, and occasional grind into 2nd gear, is the evo x having the same issue?

 

Hmm,
No grinds here, but the "notchiness" on the stock shifter is there.
although I hear that by changing to a short shifter + bushings it takes it away.

 

i drove my friends STI and the tranny is smooth as butter, i loved it.

 

I remember reading a thread about the grinding while shifting not too long ago. Maybe you can try searching for it. From what I remember, it seems to be a hit or miss with each vehicle. As FastAttack said, you can do things to make it go away.

 

There is a sticky on it in engine turbo and drivetrain.
