Cell Phone Holders?

Hi all, I am a new proud owner of a 2012 EVO MR (Mercury Grey Pearl). I love the car and can't wait to get past the break-in period (I know...long debate - drive it like you stole it vs. baby it). I haven't had a chance to take pics yet, but it brings a smile to my face every time I look at it.

I was just wondering what you guys use to hold your cell phones. Storage space is kind of limited and I'd like to save my cup holders for cups and the bins for miscellaneous stuff. Don't really like windshield mounted holders since they leave a mark. Are there any other options out there? Thanks for any inputs.

First congrats on ur evo my friend
Second, I didn't find this really imoprtant to me so I just use a mount on the windshield, but there is something you might like. There is something sticky you can put on ur dashboard I don't really know what it's called but you just out ur phone in there and it never drops you also can find it in any gas station also it's really cheap .

Thanks, yeah, it's kind of a trivial thing, but I just thought I'd ask since I searched but found nothing. I think I know what you are talking about...it's a thin little piece of sticky rubber that seems to hold onto everything...

Yeah, I'd just like to try to keep the cup holders free and the door pockets are already used for paper towels, etc.

Just wondering if there were some other types like "suctioning" to the trim, bolting to an existing bolt in the interior somewhere, etc, that I haven't seen before.

Voice mail takes care of my cell phone when I'm driving. Since you just got a new 2012 X, you may consider this as well. If you are referring to a place to store it, I either leave it in my pocket or throw it in the tiny storage area in the center dash.

I usually leave it in the cup holder, but there are dashboard/vent mounts that you can buy from places like radioshack if that's what you're into.

i use my cupholder too, but does your MR have FUSE (bluetooth). if so, just pair it to your cell and keep the phone in your pocket!

Depending on the size of your phone you can adjust the steering column so that it holds in against the top of the dash. I can wedge mine in there perfectly. It covers up that center display, but what does that really tell me anyway? I know my gas mileage sucks, it dings when I'm low on gas, that's really all I need to know.

This way i have my Pandora up and in reach all the time, and GPS when I need it.

I've seen those but wasn't sure how flimsy they are.

The car has FUSE and Bluetooth, so its not about answering the phone but more about keeping a little storage space. The little slot by the cigarrette lighter holds loose change. The cubby hole above that has bin and my garage opener. Anyways, its a pretty trivial issue compared to sick this car is. I was just wondering what others were using.

ProClip (or Brodit for RHD) makes a really nice 2-piece mount that is both vehicle-specific and phone-specific.

For the Lancer/Evo there's a dash-mount and a console-mount version. But at $30 for the car mount, plus $35 for the regular phone mount (or $80 for hardwired dock), it's kinda pricey.

I just throw my phone on the passenger seat or keep it in my pocket

^^^ That, get a pro clip. It works great for cellphones and accessport if you go that route.

I have this in my 11 MR and it's perfect. It's universal so works with pretty much any smart phone. I can post a picture of it in my evo later.

https://www.cobra.com/detail/univers...sb-charger.cfm

This is where I bought it from:

Sorry for the bad pictures. I will try to take some better ones tomorrow.

It has an adhesive back that holds the phone, Cobra calls it Ever-Last Breakaway Adhesive. It's pretty sticky and doesn't leave a residue.
