Volkswagen Golf R vs Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution MR - Head 2 Head
Anyone else think it's kind of funny how VW fans so vehemently defend their cars by talking about their interiors? I've never encountered such a group of people so passionate about soft touch plastics.
Yeah, we don't buy Evos for their interiors, although honestly if I had to sum up VW's car interior strategy it would be "lipstick on a pig". Then again if you really want to talk about car interiors you came to the wrong place

Having being a vw tech. Owned a 2004 r32 that I sold to buy my Ix in 2006. Now having an X aswell I will say the video is bs. Yea the R is nicer (built) inside. But I think the X is to. I know of all the R problems, trannys, engine lites and besides these **** that buy R's are REALLY strange people. They always come into service smelling like weed.

As far as X's interior, I have no idea why people say it is horrible. It's not like it is competing at a beauty contest. It is simple, intuitive, and easy on eyes. It doesn't have Bentley-quality materials but it doesn't have cheap-feel plastics either. True, some cars in the price range have superior interiors but let's face it, it's interior is not a selling point of this car.

I agree. you can pick whatever car you want. if you want something with a really nice interior why not go German? and I also agree with the feel of the interior. its easy on the eyes. nothing to brag about but it is well put together. and considering that its basically a street legal rally car, it makes it so much better

I've had the opportunity to see a few Golf Rs on the racetrack. Most have been pretty well set up/ modified, a few with cages and really built. While I am sure there are some competitive Golf Rs out there, I haven't found one yet. Meaning, for the cars I've encountered (and none in my class) they are getting pummeled on the track by all manner of beast. One fellow did ok in the rain but, aside from that, the R was not competitive when it mattered.
As far as interiors, I guess the R is nicer? OK. But if we are going to exclude performance, let's open up the comparison a little. After some research, I've determined that my family room is far more comfortable and nicely appointed than the Golf R. Better seating surfaces, roomier, and more functional... So, ultimately, if it comes down to choosing to drive an Evo or a Golf for performance - Evo. If it comes down to choosing based on interior alone? I'll stay home...

i just had a winter BMW Xdrive invitation only, drive event in Switzerland today.
I think we can agree on that the BMW specially the Xdrive is a great platform. Never mind the M series we drove around all day switching cars. I drove the 2013 M series including many Xdrive 1-6 even the Xdrive 3 turbo M diesel...
They are light years behind the Evo AWd system. In snow the power means less and that is the place to truly judge an AWD system.
I dont think anyone question the M series superiority over the Golf R series...
there is no way the R can be even close to an evo in those conditions. Performance wise the Evo also better. "luxury" goes for the German. But i wouldn't buy a Golf for luxury from the begin with... I can not see any time or place where the Golf R would be better choice then a EvoX.
And more i think about it , more i cant make any idea why its even was a test to compere them. There is nothing this two cars has common or share market place.
