I had a C6 for a few years, (not a Z06)... and even at the same time as the Evo I have currently. The vette is kinda fun in its own way, but the Evo is a hoot to drive. So I traded the Vette for a newer DD truck. I can definately see the appeal of a Z06... but if I was you, and considering a Z06... go test drive one. A test drive for many people makes them "gotta have it" however for me there have been plenty of times I have been turned off with a test drive. Go test drive it and see how you like it before you write it off completely.
Oh, BTW 50 for an 08 or new Viper isn't going to happen. Maybe 65+.

I thoroughly enjoy a black on black Z06.

This is actually my brother's car that spends 99% of its time in my garage. I agree with test driving one before buying it. I drive this car a lot and love the car, but I just don't know if I'm a vette guy. It's a lot of fun, handles great (when you swap for better rubber), and has a power band that cannot be matched by the Evo. There is just something I will always like more with Evos, so I don't know if I could own a Z06 now that I've gotten a lot of seat time in one. It doesn't have a soul like the Evo does IMO. The only relation between the two is it feels like an expensive drivetrain in a cheap car just like the Evo. Just food for thought.

^love that Zo6 but I'm with you on being a vette guy. I have had an 8 and now a X and they were both great cars, but have never took it to the building the motor phase and thats what worries me

I agree. I've been looking at vipers for a while and its tough to find a 3rd gen for 50k let alone a 4th gen.
Maybe you should take more then 30 seconds to look. One has a reconstructed title and the other already shows curb rash and damage to the dash... who knows what else is wrong with that car...
