Oil change counter

I did a quick search but the words I used didn't show anything. On the 2012 Evo there is that countdown timer that shows you months and miles before needing oil change. Does it just go off the miles or does it go off the way the car is being driven? The reason I ask is I could have sworn it said at least 200 or 300 miles left when I parked the car. 5 minutes later when I got back to the car the service light came on and the counter was showing all zeros.

Thanks

Only by the time and mileage... it warns you a bit before you actually are at zero. Same as the "miles remaining" screen.

Thanks that's what I figured. Just odd it reset to zero. Seems like it would be difficult to reset it on accident. Or maybe I'm just losing my mind but I don't think so. The only reason I even brought it up was because my rover reset something once and soon followed some electrical problems. But I'm sure this is nothing. Car runs fine. Thanks again.

Should be fine. Goofy things happen every once in a while. The battery didn't go low did low did it?

I think a lot of the modern car oil change sensors take into account other factors, cold starts, cold miles driven, rpm, etc...

I rarely check the counter... I know how I drove the car and how many miles since my last oil change

Counter is in my head lol

I always just use the B tripmeter as a counter, and reset it after an oil change - a lot easier than dicking around on the headunit.
