Evo X wing differences(?)
Evo X wing differences(?)
Hey all,
For several weeks I've been narrowing down my search for my upcoming car purchase. I've decided to go with a '10 or '11 Evo X GSR. Absolutely in love with the car and I really dig what I read about it here.
A question that's been bugging me, is the differences between spoilers, even on X's of the same trim lvl (GSR) and model year. Here's what I'm talking about:

-AND-

According to the sellers, these cars are nearly identical.. both 2010 X GSR's. As you can clearly see one has the lower wing (found on other Lancers, I think) and the other has the higher wing with the black framing.
Was this an option for the car, a part swap, or what? I'll be buying one with the high wing.. but I can't figure out the "rhyme or reason" for the differences.
Thanks!
Devin

When i bought mine it came with the SSS package and it had the high spoiler, SSS = Sight: HID lighting, Sound: Rockford System, and Spoiler: High Spoiler. hope that helps
Now just convince them to throw what looks like Rally Armor mud flaps onto your car at no extra cost and you'll be set

This could be wrong, but I believe starting in 2011, all GSRs had the large wing. The SSS (sight sound spoiler) package bacame just the Sight and sound (SS) and then there was the Sunroof and Leather package (SL)
Yea that's correct. Prior to 2011 if you didn't get the SSS package, you got the smaller spoiler.

This is correct. I bought SSS, but the higher-spoiler was already with the car. The one pictured on top for the OP I've never seen on an Evo, just the MR like lip spoiler or the higher SSS one. The one pictured that is mid height looks like it came from a Lancer GTS IMO.
The GSR, regardless of trip level or added packages comes with the larger spoiler. The MR, regardless of trim level and package comes with the lip spoiler. If it has something different it was put on at the dealership or after the car was purchased.
I used to own a Ralliart before I got my Evo. I love the way the big spoiler looks, but it does get in the way of your vision and there are times when I wish I had the little one just for that reason.

This is only true for 2011+ models.
The Aero kit is a totally different thing all together. It includes bigger side skirts, a big front lip, some rear corner extensions on the rear bumper, and a gurney strip on the rear spoiler.
As stated already, 2011+ GSRs come standard with the taller spoiler.
