Going wingless, opinions, experiences, ideas.
I decided to go wingless because.....that's the way my Evo MR came from the factory.
The benefits of going wingless are.....the trunk lip looks hot, plus the cops are probably less likely to mess with me....maybe.

I used to be strictly a "wing" guy but there's a MR at my work with just the lip spoiler and it looks great and it changed my opinion. Honestly the car looks great either way and I was thinking about getting a PB trunk just to swap out every now and again. I think going wingless gives you more that sleeper look and I've never had a problem with cops because of my wing but I don't drive like an ******* either.
With that said, I think the car looks great with or without the wing. It's all personal preference.
When I had wing for 4 months: 1 speeding ticket going 82mph. 1 honk from a cop going 78mph(next to all the other drivers). 1 Busted driver side mirror while parked on the street with all the other cars front/behind me.
When I went wingless for 4 months now: no issues.
I swear. Personal experience. I owned evo X and evo 8.
Conclusion: I DD my evo. I don't track. I dont plan on driving over 120mph on the streets/highway. I simply went wingless to become less of a target
I think both way looks great. But i just rather have less issues and focus on my work.

1. You got a speeding ticket - Well duh. If you speed you'll get a ticket. Regardless if you have a wing or not
2. A cop honked at you? I'm not sure how this is a bad experience...
3. Busted driver side mirror? Did someone drive down a road with a bat? Or was it only your specific car. It sounded to me like all the cars had smahed mirror?
Now let's go through the possibilites of why nothing has happened in four months without the wing;
1. Speed Ticket - You don't speed or haven't gotten caught speeding yet
2. Cop Honking - A cop hasnt honked at you
3. Busted mirror - Someone didn't bust your mirror in the last 4 months
Looks to me like every point you have made is clearly based off of you as an individual or someone else and has no bearing on the wing itself. For example, I could make the point that it's "personal experience" and that my wing is the reason why I have not gotten pulled over, a cop has never honked at me, and I have never had anyone touch my car.
I do agree with you that having the wing does not help you while driving normally nor on the highway however, not driving like an idiot and following the laws will make you less of a target. Like you said, I think both look great as well but your issues did not spur from only having a wing or not.
On one hand, I agree that low-N data-sets are close to useless, especially when correlational in nature. On the other hand, I was a traffic cop for a few years (albeit back in the 1980s) and I can tell you, when a cop has the choice between taking down a car with a wing vs a car without, all else being equal, it will be the former more than 50% of the time. But, of course, that conclusion also comes from a smallish N and correlational data, which only proves that I can't keep my logic straight for the time it takes to type three sentences.
Hi, I currently have MR (stock wingless). I want to hear your opinions/experiences/ideas on going wing. Not big stock wing, but carbon fiber wings (such as APR ones or similar styles). Thanks

Ok I know this post is mad old but those are the best LED taillights I've seen, where can I find them? Google search didn't help
To stay on topic: That's how my MR came. I was envious of the GSR wing for a while but after seeing them(the MR and GSR) side by side I actuallly LIKE the conservative look. Looks more subtle and I like that.

I was in the same boat as you. Bought the Seibon CF OEM SSS wing and painted it to match the OEM SSS wing. Fitment was perfect (have heard cases where it wasn't), and the exposed CF underneath after painting to match my car looks awesome. It also only has 3 bolts which matches the "gay" lancer spoiler mounting (4 on oem sss wing) option.
