Thinking about getting an Evo X GSR
girl with an evo = one BAD B*TCH
First, I strongly recommend you to get loaded Evo (sight and sound package, leather and sunroof package, Navi, etc.), if you want to get an Evo, new or used. Life is too short to regret of not opting packages initially.
Second, as LeftLaneNews said, "so many [Evo's] wind up being driven hard and subsequently modified on a tight budget. We shed a little tear every time we see an Evo with an APC sticker and an exhaust pipe as fat as a garbage can." I go to local meets a lot and I see too many Evo's being modded on a budget. That kind of "modifications" just ruins the car. There is really no need to mod an Evo, unless you have truck loads of cash and want to compete with GT-R's, Lambo's, and Ferrari's on the race track. FYI, as listed on Wikipedia, stock Evo X has blitzed Nurburgring Nord. at 7:57, comparing to Corvette Z51 at 7:59 and BMW E92 M3 at 8:05.
Most people with these cars probably do most mods themselves. I personally usually have a local shop work on mine simply because between work, a 2 year old, and no garage/lift or even an even driveway it's just easier for me. Regardless of whether you choose to do them yourself or not you are going to love the car. Although, being a girl in an evo the attention can get a little annoying. Haha
Yeah I think I'll keep it stock for a bit before I do anything just to breakin the motor/get the hang of driving it. I did want to change the injectors, intake, intercooler, intercooler pipe, exhaust, and coilovers. Also, tuned to take e85.
I don't plan on taking my evo to the race track, but I like knowing that I could if I wanted to. :P

Just keep in mind that you buy quality over low prices (i.e. don't be cheap on the parts) and a bad intake air filter can cause premature engine wear.
Nice! Welcome to the community! And welcome to the addiction!
The only one I paid to get installed is the turbo-back exhaust. Only coz the horror stories I've read about unbolting the downpipe from the turbo, breaking bolts and the likes. But if ur only going to install cutback exhaust, even as a girl, u can do it in ur garage or driveway.
So far I've installed:
FMIC
UICP
LICP
CAI
Injectors
Springs
And I did all that by myself without help from anyone.
The springs r a little tricky. Just make sure on the front hats that the arrows pointed towards the car. Injectors r tricky too, push the fuel rail evenly and it will sit right. I didn't and I was leaking gas on the first test start up.
But like I said, everything can be done with common knowledge. If not, ask in here in the forums.
Edit: I see that u want coil overs...makes things easier, just swap and go get sagged and aligned.
