Traded my MR for a GSR!
The only grige/complaint I got is that in 2012 they removed the sensor on the door handle so now instead of just touching the door handle I have to push the little black button to unlock the doors. But other than that I just got over 500 miles on it and I am loving it very much.
I loved my MR but I what let me to trade was that after 3 yrs of production mitsu still does not have parts for the sst anything happens to the tranny and its got to be replaced after warranty I didn't feel comfortable dropping 10K on a tranny alone. But trust me as much as I like the manual you cant beat the SST the super fast shifts I miss it but I am happy.
I've had dealers have good success with replacing the mechatronic assembly (similar to a valve body). The process is quite involved and requires a Mits dealer to reinitialize it (ie if a 3rd party overhauls or replaces components, a mits dealer is required to 'teach in' the TCSST)
The clutch pack is available as well.
Parts may or may not be on restricted access to dealers. The may not be available to the public. From memory a mechatronic assembly is $5,500

The funny thing is that I could see myself do a 180 2 years from now and want a manual again. I'm never satisfied for a long period of time. Hopefully this car will be the first time I am.
You can't go wrong with an Evo. Have fun with the new car!
dude.. you called it an auto.. everyone know's it's a DUAL Clutch automated "MANUAL" it's not an Automatic there is no torque converter .. it's NOT an Automatic transmission.. if it was they wouldn't put it in a GTR or farrari 458 or any other high end car with a Dual Clutch paddle shift. Yes it has the same functionality as an auto.. but it is not an auto..
get with the times... Traditional Automatics are nearly gone. and soon enough traditional manuals will be too.

Dual clutch manual or semi-manual or semi-auto has NO torque converter.

When your schooled up on what the diffrence between the two are then you may as well fix your statement and apoligze to that poor guy above.
Thanks,
Stop being a bully because everyone hates them!

I know the difference between an automatic and dual clutch system. Thanks. Would you be happier if I edited it to say "SST" instead of "automatic?"
I honestly have no problem with the SST because I know it shifts faster than anyone in a manual car. I have a problem with the fact that I'm left with a synthetic feeling of "shifting" my vehicle in a pseudo slap shifter/sequential shift style, or using the flappy paddles. It's just not the same at all if you ask me. Either way, it's an Evo and I honestly don't care what transmission you prefer.
If he wants an apology then he should man up and say it himself. I'm actually a nice guy with a poor sense of humor.

In 2008 there was a sensor on the inside of the handle. No button to push.

I took this screen shot from VW.com when building a GTI. As you know it's also dual clutch yet they call it an 'automatic'. Please contact VW and explain what WIKI says and school them.

Also referencing anything WIKI must always be looked at with a grain of salt. I can WIKI something and call it what I want until someone else decides to change it.
If the manufacturer still leaves the PRNDL on the lever, it will always be an auto no matter what the internals are.
To the OP, congrats on the purchase. Either version is nice. It's an Evo.
