255kw @ wheels EVO X with BBK Lite - fuel consumption stats - HELP NEEDED
Hi there. After my BBK Lite install, with 1100 injectors, full exhaust and HFC, im only managing 140miles per fill up. I live in the city in Melbourne with some low speed start stop traffic at times. But my consumption has almost halved since it was stock. Im in Australia. Im considering going a dual map with E85 soon, but given i get such bad economy, im kind of scared to go E85 because of the higher flow rate. What are you other Evo X owners getting out there? Stock or modified. I find free way long drives i get good economy 10-13Litres/100km, but in city driving, im lucky to see anything below 20litres/100km. Ridiculous, but ive ben told that this was normal, and tune shows all stats similar to EVo X with same set up. Ive had some other fast jap cars, with even more power, but fuel economy didnt really suffer as much as this X has. Any thoughts? My tuner is very reputable, so I really cant question his opinion that it is normal.
Bigger turbo, bigger injectors...bigger drink.
You shouldn't be too surprised about it, seems perfectly normal for the type of build. E85 will get even worse mileage, FYI. I think our restricted stock turbo SP rally car gets about 4mpg when being run hard...

What fluids do you have in the tranny, transfer case, and rear? What really kills the Evo's mileage is the drivetrain loss, which only got worse with the AYC.
Also: in town, do you lift early for red lights and coast in from far away or stay in it and have to brake?

If the car is starting fine it's probably not an issue, but I have to ask if these injectors are known to leak when the car is off like some of the other brands?
I remember hearing people say their injectors would leak fuel if the car sat for awhile. Have you pondered the idea that highway mileage is fine because you're driving long distance between fill ups and seeing no problem during the same day. But city driving may be over multiple days with the injectors leaking fuel each night giving the appearance of bad city mileage only.
Just a thought if you've tried everything with no solution in sight.

Its does not sound normal. I have the same turbo, very similar injectors, and I get close to the same fuel economy I got stock in normal driving. You get 140 miles until YOU fill up, or until the refill light comes on? Who tuned you?

When my car was stock standard I was getting at least 220-250 miles to the full tank.
Daniel Mcoey from RTR tunes my Evo in Melbourne. They swapped over the FIC 1100 injectors for a new set, and the fuel consumption is still lousy. He says its normal, even though the fuel consumption has almost halved since the car had the BBK Lite fitted along with the supporting mods.
I get 140 miles now till the light comes on. Never had ran it till empty.
Since I noticed the fuel consumption problem pretty much straight after I got my car back from RTR, I have been driving around town driving to save on fuel. The only real time I give the Evo some stick these days on open stretch of roads or freeway. Im not thrashing it by any means, because I know that would surely halve my fuel consumption for sure.
Even though my tuner reputable and knows his Evos. I still can't accept why my consumption has halved since it was stock. I did all these mods in one hit mind you, so I know that something has gone wrong whilst the car was fitted and tuned with these parts. We just cant figure out what yet. I considering E85 tune soon which will surely make it more expensive to run, but couldnt get any worse could it. Besides that, the car is an absolute pleasure to drive. Super responsive, super quick, hardly any lag at all.

hey mate i just got mine back from rtr too with a similar setup. i defiantly get around the 300-320km per tank, although i probably do more highway driving in my day than you might. but as soon as you hit the gas om nom nom.
My overall MPG has remain unchanged all the way from stock to aftermarket turbo with ID1000 injectors and Walbro 255HP pump. Sounds to me like you either have way too large of a fuel pump or your tune is way off.
With FP Green, ID 1000 injectors running pump gas I get 16 to 17 mpg in the city and 20 highway. Of course having over 400 hp you naturally tend to put your foot down a bit more than normal.
I can get 23 city and 26 highway but I have to drive like a old woman.
Either your not being honest with yourself about how your driving the car or try another tuner.
