Broke another throttle pedal

Second one. Unfortunately looks like the billet aluminum ones Burschur was testing never went into production. Can't blame them, I couldn't imagine the liability potential on them for street use. The full story is that this is my second 2008 Evo. Both have broken right at the 36K mile point. Not sure if the replacement OEM's are better but I didn't break a second one on the first Evo although I only had it for 10K after the repair. I had cemented a rubber pad under the carpet for that one. Forgot to do it on this Evo.

Does anybody know of a permanent solution rather than rolling the dice with another OEM?

Man the second broke one?!? That's crazy.. I have 40k miles on mine, but my pedal is still fine.

I thought I saw another company on here that was making an aluminum pedal, but maybe I'm remembering it correctly. Can u get it warrantied since a gas pedal should never break off? I know it's prolly out of warranty, just wondering.

Car is still in warranty. Just passed 36K. Last one was a little bit of a heated discussion but they ended up covering it. I'd rather find a replacement and not have to worry about it again. If the car was faster I wouldn't have this problem. LOL

Second broken pedal by the same person sounds like a personal problem

It's a little embarrassing, but true. Think of it as a switch, not a mash. Throttle use should be feathery light from your foot, even when flogging it. It's electronic after all. Use the amount of effort you would use with one finger, and you're getting it right.

That sucks, man. I hope that never happens to me. I barely press the gas passed 1/4 throttle.

OT: what wheels are those?

Any time you'd like to put your driving resume up against mine I'd be happy to oblige.

Update on the issue:

On Monday I pre-verified it would be covered under warranty and set an apppointment to drop the car off. I was told they would get the part in and have it ready for install. Today, Wednesday, I dropped the car off no problem, will be covered by warranty, other than they were unable to get me a ride to work as promised. Received call an hour after drop off claiming it isn't covered under warranty because I'm 200 miles over 36K. I lit the service clerk up because he had the VIN and mileage before he verified warranty coverage. They're now escalating to Mitsubishi Regional rep. Even if he approves it there is the issue that the part is not at the dealer as promised and now I'd be looking at Friday earliest.

Will keep you informed what the regional rep says.

Good luck with Mitsu, I have ran into a lot of issues with them when it came to having warranty issues. I have a buddy who autocrosses his X and has been through one pedal already, they just don't make them as good as they should.

You know me. The car is at Marhofer. You need to come over for one of my cookout / car meets.

Shoot I didn't even realize it was you lol. Yea definitely we will have to get all the X's together. I hate dealing with Marhofer, I have been using Valley Mitsu in Medina, for me the extra drive was worth it, my My X is outta warranty as far as age, but mileage of course doesn't move since I never drive it.

I hear you on Marhofer. Every time I go there I say never again. I usually go to Mentor. I decided to give Marhofer another chance because they recently hired a new Service Manager. FAIL so far. Even if they get it covered, this aggravation is unnecessary. I laid it out for them in advance and they didn't get the part as promised.

What a BS reason for my 100th post
