I hope R0ME0 doesn't mind me posting his car... It's a GSR with push start...

Yeah.... rome0 hasn't been on in a loooooooong time.

Hopefully someone ports it from the outlander sport to the evo x mr with fast key. seems like the fast key is all you really need for the outlander sport.

That's my only issue with the weathertech mats. It doesn't cover the entire footrest. So you have dirt on the front of your shoe touching the OEM foot rest and rocks falling off your shoe that get wedged behind the weathertech and onto the brand new carpet. Pretty dumb design if it's not going to cover everything 100%.

I've heard of people from the Audi forums contacting Weathertech and telling them that something doesn't fit as it should. They went as far as to revise the mats and send them the updated pieces.

what's the point of a 'push to start' button if you still have to turn the ignition and press the clutch... isn't the button just an extra step?

I completely agree, but if you look at the new outlander sports you dont even need to do that, you just have to press the button. I'm trying to replicate that, It would be absolutely pointless If I had to turn the key to the on position anyways.

This is how it goes for the outlander sport:
Sit in the driver seat with fast key in pocket.
push the start/stop engine button.
DONE

Any thing other than that like turning keys to the on or off position is just not worth it.

That's actually $274.38 (without vat), so even more absurd. lol

And yea, my wife laughs that her Prius is a true push button start and I have to turn a fake key.

The key turning part is dumb... but typically with a push to start function you still push the clutch in for safety reasons. You can disengage that, though...

Just curious, but with ours the transmitter is in the key FOB, if the battery (inside the key FOB) dies we can pop the cover and use the hard key. How's that work for the "true push button" cars? What happens if her battery on the key dies?

I can speak from an Audi perspective... If the battery dies in the FOB you can still insert the key and start the car. There is debate as to whether the key FOB has a rechargeable battery in it. Some guys with dead ones have inserted their key just to see it working again like it was just charged. Companies will tell you that it's BS and doesn't work that way. For the Evo, we can still insert our key into the ignition when we take off the dumb fake key. My car just tells me to take the key out when I do that.

I'm not familiar with how the push button start actually works. I'm wondering if the button itself is connected to the sensor that senses the key? If I can see the outlander system I'm sure I can make it work in an Evo, though...

I did a quick search around on my phone to see if anyone has pricing on the OEM part. It looks like it's running for around $400-$500 for all the parts to do it. I'll keep digging when I get off work.
