How Does This Quote Look?
Hi Guys,
Just want to get your opinion on a quote my local tuning shop gave me. I was originally going to buy the COBB Stage 2 kit but wanted to know what they recommened as an alternative. This is what they came back with:
Tomei Titanium performance exhaust $1,090
AMS resonated testpipe $360
AMS Downpipe $470
AMS Intake $390
Perrin 3 port $110
AMS UPIC $310
5% performace package discount ($137)
Dyno Tune by local shop $500
Install (5 hours) $575
10% local owner discount ($58)
Total $3,610
What do you think?
For $3,160 I get all this or I can get the Cobb Stage 2 kit and install for about $2,200
What do you think is the best option?
Thanks
Nick

To install the AMS intake don't you need to have the AMS LICP? I could def be wrong..
And don't you see the discounts after the prices listed? I think they have the parts listed at retail, and then have a discounted sum. But 5 hours is not bad at all. How long does it take to install the downpipe? Like 4 by itself? Plus the catback and testpipe, which really dont take that long.. but then you have the boost controller, in intake..

I agree with the guy above, save some money and install everything but the downpipe and 3-port yourself. Everything but those 2 are very easy. The 3-port is only hard cuz post install it requires a tune - the install itself is easy. I had kaizen tuning install my AMS downpipe and they finished it in about 2 and a half hours.
Thanks for the input guys. I will have a shop installing everything regardless of ease because I don't have a clue and don't want to screw anything up.
I think I am going to pull the trigger.
My only last thoughts before I do this set up over the COBB one are:
1) Will it pass emissions testing
2) What happens if I only have 91 octane available
3) Is the extra performance and $1,600 for the AMS parts well worth it over the COBB stage 2
Thanks!

2. If 91 is all that is available that's fine, just don't go into boost.
3. The downpipe is probably the best out now, everything else is debateable.
They're basically trying to give you parts that they've had good experiences with as far as fitment, quality, and tuning.

I know AMS is quality but sweet baby Jesus that stuff is expensive. That aside, I run all Cobb parts and am super happy. The exhaust in particular sounds orgasmic. The Stage 2 is less expensive, easy to install and doesn't require a dyno tune...that'd be my choice but I'm a little biased. In the end it all depends on the OP's goals...either way it'll turn out well.
