Considering an MR for the wife.

Looking at one 2008 38k mi. What should I look out for tranny wise? I'm not new to Evos just MR's. If you could hurry that would be nice. I'm at the dealership.
Didn't like the one I was looking at^^^^^^^

So instead I got this one it's an 08 with 20k mi.

The Audi behind is what I traded in.

AFAIK the SST is a sealed, locked up sort of trans that even the dealer doesn't mess with. They just replace and send to Getrag.

If it has 38k and has a history of regular maintenance and your wife isn't going to mod the car, why not just get the extended warranty and let that cover anything that could happen with the SST.

Hope it works out, congrats!

Yea, there isn't really anyway to check for the SST. It is sealed up and can't really be checked. The best thing to do is just to drive it and see if everything drives fine, shifts smooth, doesn't slip(it still uses clutches so make sure they don't slip).

Check to see if there are any maintenance records for the fluid and filter changes..

I would check the maintance record if one exsist and if there is no info I would just assume the worst and get ready to buy one.

Yes check all fluid change history, if not tell dealer to perform the service it needs for those miles My wife hated her X MR at first, she was ike "why are you making me suffer in this piece of **** car" her previous car was an Aspen.

Now if i joke with her about trading the X in, shes like NO WAY! Especially after a full winter in blizzack tires driving circles around all cars, how ****ing great is that to experiance what not many people ever have a chance to experiance?
Great daily driver!!

Oh I hope she enjoys attention and big looks from other drivers that know the cars full potential.

The extended warranty idea sounds great. Other than that I would definitely check fluids, etc.

depending on how she drives she might want to consider a cooling system for the sst transmission. other than that great choice for the wife ! I was considering getting my wife a MR but she doesnt need all that power so I got her a Ralliart.

Wouldn't make sense to trade a 2011 Audi A4 for a ralliart...

Awesome. Congratulations. You are a blessed man to have a wife who appreciates performance. My wife hates cars, hates driving and sees cars merely as appliances. If she wanted an MR, I would buy one in a heartbeat for her. Your wife is definitely a keeper!

I found an 2008 MR RR with 20,000 miles. It's very clean and made a nice anniversary gift.

She will love it. I have a base X MR and I love it. It has all the fun you'd ever want, four practical doors, a trunk big enough to go to the grocery store, and it handles great in the rain.
