Factory touch screen or aftermarket?
I went with aftermarket figuring I could get more bang for my buck. While that has proved to be true in terms of sound quality and options, I've got some nagging alternator whine that I haven't quite been able to figure out yet.
There is something to be said for just taking it off the lot with everything factory installed.

It's a $2500 option. The ONLY reason I'd suggest getting one is if you want to look cool and fit in the dash of the car. If you're cool with a windshield mount, go get one from Best Buy and save yourself the $2000. I would NEVER get an indash after market one.
Factory navi is the biggest waste of money ever, IMO.
It looks clean, that's about it. I had the Rockford system in my car, because I had to have HIDs. I don't regret getting it, but there are no components of the stock stereo left in the car. The speakers were average at best, the HU super basic, the amplifier sorely lacking.
I got an aftermarket BT + DVD + Nav expandable head and currently use Waze on my iPhone, but pipe it through the HU for spoken instructions. You can watch movies ($3 hack), get voice directions (free), or switch to music and use the iPhone as a Spotify broadcaster (HU will up/down track), or use my iTunes playlist. Connected to a 5 channel amp and speakers, sound quality flat out blows away the factory Navi to Rockford amp and speakers and costs less front to back. Spotify music is limited by nothing more than your imagination.
Cliff's notes: Don't waste your money on the factory nav. Go aftermarket and never look back.

I just got an SE with the RF 6 disc.. I would like to have Navi but I don't want to lose the BT and all the features on my steering wheel (mode, volume, track up/down). I agree that aftermarket is almost always better than stock... but I think I'm torn in this situation lol.

I don't disagree with the comments though, the RF package amp is terrible quality. However, I regret not getting the OE nav setup. I just have the SSS with the 6disc. I want to pick up a 11+ OE Nav and then replace the amp I have and components. Sub is okay if it gets a little more power.

Dude, I totally feel you on the steering wheel controls. I have an 08, and the ACD is on the wheel. But there are some aftermarket HUs that still work with steering wheel controls. You need a special module like this:

I bought my wife a new pioneer nav unit for her car and it has the cellphone bluetooth integration. It's ****ing terrible. The Mic picks up so much background noise. The guy at the shop pointed out that all the aftermarket ones don't work as well as the OE ones for that feature only, however other features like the actual Nav and multimedia control are usually better in the aftermarket world
Aftermarket.
I had the factory nav unit...lasted me three months before I was annoyed with the sound quality, lack of POI's, no live traffic, etc, that I decided to pull it.
Bought a JVC unit...sound improvement was night and day and it has HD radio, traffic, etc.
Your coin, but I wouldnt pay them 2500 for, IMO, a subpar unit.
To put it in persepctive, my JVC, at the time, cost me $1100.00

You'll retain the track up,down and volume up,down and mode changes, but FUSE wont work, so you won't be able to use the three buttons for interacting with your cell phone.

I wouldn't know on FUSE, that wasn't on the 2008s or 2010s.
That's true, I know the pioneer one sucks, but I haven't tried the others and taking the total advice of someone working in an audio shop a bad move on my part.
I wouldn't be surprised if it was a company like Parrot that actually does the bluetooth integration for OE systems.
I can say that FUSE works fantastic in my '11. It's one of the features I love most about the car, that isn't performance oriented.
