Any reason consider an X over previous generations?

After much research I decided the STI was not the way to go for what Im wanting. I cant get over the inherit motor issues associated with modding those cars. So Im onto researching what appears to be the best choice.

Whatever I end up with (9 or X) will be modded shortly after I pick it up. This will not be a daily driver, and it may find its way to a track every once in a while.

For those that have owned both. Are there any reason that I would want to pick up a X, over an older generation? Im looking for things like drive ability, how each generation takes to mods, problems with factory parts(trans, diff, stock internals). Im not sold on the look of the X, but have seen quite a few on this forum that look amazing.

Im not new to the auto performance world. Just these cars. so I appreciate any advice that you may have. Thanks in advance!

if you dd , then its is a newer version/younger car with a lots of extra things for a commuter car vs the older versions. Chassis are newer etc. These are some of the positive points of the X for comparision.
For racing ... it deppends what you like. For drag , i would get an older version(8-9) , preferebly RS. In fact if you have a choice for track pick the RS version only.
Other then that i would go for a X.

The car wont be a DD. It will see more time on the street than any track. Im less concerned about 1/4 mile time than I am about overall performance/handling. Ive had 1/4 mile cars in the past, and as fun as they are, Im looking for a more well rounded option. High HP and the handling to match. Ive had my eye on something turbo and AWD for some time.

Thanks for the link. Sometimes it is easier to start a new thread, than have to swim through 200+ pages of text to look for specific answers to my questions.

If it needs to be locked, than so be it.

Performance wise the X doesn't have the "raw" feeling the 8/9 has imo, it's a nicer dd but it doesn't feel as sporty and sharp as the early models. Best way obviously is for you to test drive both.

OP: You should read more, this has been covered on this forum ad nauseum.

OP - please see the thread that was linked. ( https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/ev...-ix-merge.html )

There are a couple of good, basic suggestions / comparisons here though.
