2011 MR with GSR VIN

my insurance company indicated that based on my VIN, my car is a GSR. But its badged as a MR with all MR options. i'm sure you all know this but interest rates and insurance premiums are higher for GSRs.

Anyone know if this is "normal" or have this issue with their VIN?

i did a search, but didn't see this as a topic. mea culpa if this has been discussed before and i misses the thread.

Not to insult your intelligence, but it's not an automatic.

OP, could you give us all but the last five digits from your VIN plate?

It may have clutches/flywheel rather than a flexplate/tq converter. But it still does everything automatically :P

According to my VIN my GSR is a MR. Just figured it started out as slated to be an MR and the changed it mid production. Quite a bit of the parts are the same anyway.

The SST has a clutch, 8 of them actually. It's an automated manual. It's not an automatic.

Haha, on second thought, this debate is probably best suited for another thread

Hmm. That's a new one.. Maybe they started making an SE and then quit because there were only a few of them.. What is your production date?

Either way that is very strange.

At you mean a clutch pedal! Correct. MR don't have one, we have clutch paddles, next to the steering wheel.

I am in the insurance industry and I can tell you right now.. If its a major carrier, the premium cost is higher based solely on the value of the car at time of purchase, or current book value. Having a manual tranny won't be more expensive than the SST.

Also interest rates from a bank for any new car will be fixed once again based on value ranges and the term or the loan. Check this out below.

This^ . And honestly, if there is no clutch pedal or mechanism that allows you to control the slippage and engagement of the clutch to the transmission every time you shift gears, most people around the world consider that an automatic. The MR is a great car, however, it can be driven like an automatic, which is not a bad thing if your tired of a true manual: user controlled clutch, brake, user controlled shifter, gas. My apologies to Jookies, you're completly right, I just had to say this. Many autos these days come with paddle shifters, just not as good as the evos.
