Question about my 2008 Speedometer Piece

Can I swap out the 2008 speedometer piece with Amber lighting for a 2010+ color lighted speedometer piece? If so, what is a fair price of a color dash piece & how hard is it to swap out? Thanks!

*Side note* if you could let me know what the specific name of that piece is called, I'd appreciate it. Thanks!

It is possible, but a PITA and expensive to do so.. It is actually kind of illegal too if done wrong.

The mileage of the car is stored inside the gauge cluster, meaning if you swap the cluster, you lose the cars true mileage. So you would have to order a new gauge cluster with the color HUD and then get a company, forget the name, (I don't think the dealer can do it) to reprogram the mileage back in..

A cheaper route I have seen is people changing the LEDs from the amber red to blue, or even white. You still have the dot matrix display but its not red any more.

here you go...

A few members have made the switch. The 08's and later models are completely interchangeable and PnP. Best bet is to find one that has similar mileage to yours and do the swap. I don't think you need to have it reprogrammed to be legal but you do have to document the mileage difference on some kind of paperwork.

So different people are saying different things here... can you... or can you not just plug a 2010 colour cluster into a 2008 car?

I don't think anyone really knows for sure, because I have seen where others have said that the mileage is NOT stored on the cluster, and that it's just PnP, and others have said that it won't work period, etc. etc.

You must swap out the entire instrument cluster. IIRC they are about $800, then you'll need to get it programmed for the mileage and swapped out for your existing cluster. It's a lot of time and money, but possible.
