It was mentioned but the gold flakes in the black paint that create the sparkling look costs more money.

Clearly you aren't reading at your grade level.

It's been mentioned numerous times in the thread. The flakes in the is what makes the cost of the paint go up. Any dealer will charge more for a "pearl" paint. That is why its called Phantom Black Pearl.

$250 is chump change....but i guess its the principle of things that counts. Why throw away money, even if its $1, when you shouldn't be throwing it away.

if you really wanna go there, i can tell you there's 2 things inherently wrong with your "any dealer will charge more for a pearl paint" claim.

1) not every dealer charges more for pearl. i know this for a fact because i work part-time at a dealership now, and there's no extra charge for the pearl.

2) MITSUBISHI itself offers "octane blue" and "mercury gray" also in a pearl finish. there's no extra charge for those colors.

again, i wasn't complaining about an extra charge. what's $250 on a $40K car?! but i was curious why there was one to begin with, just because of the color. like WANGBOY925 said, it's the principle.

Not to me The PB was the only color I refused to purchase an Evo in. After owning a black Eclipse Spyder I refuse to buy another black car again. Especially in Texas. And especially if it costs more. I dont care how much gold flakes they put in it.

oh man... the pain of waxing your car and then find a layer of dust 5 minutes after...

but when you do make it shine like a mirror, there's no sexier color

Perhaps the black paint is thicker. The WW paint on my 2011 MR is the thinnest paint I've ever seen.
