Evo X - Cop Magnet: Not this time!
i've been stopped at least twice by cops purely based on what i was driving. wondering if it's the large spoiler that makes them foam at the mouth. do you think wingless will get less attention? also doesn't help that my evo's red i guess.
...but it's good to finally not be "that car".
all i can say is the cop did not look impressed that it took the prelude that long to slow down and stop. when the cop pointed at me, i thought he was being a ***** and busting me too even though i wasn't speeding, but i think he wanted to direct all of his wrath towards mr. prelude that day.

I will need to knock on wood first off. But so far the cops have left me alone. I do have DV plates though and think that altleast cant hurt. But I dont think the spoiler will affect much. Atleast if I was a cop I would know my sports cars and problem cars. I would be able to spot an Evo with or without the spoiler. I think its just a matter of running across a certain cop on a certain day. Some cops are cool and some are just straight up ******. Sometimes your lucky and sometimes you aint.

I also usually keep to the speed limit and obey traffic laws but I don't consider my insurance cheap. But then again I live in a large city where people cant drive for nothing and are crashing and driving up rates on a regular basis.
i'm moving from a densely populated area with bad drivers to a newish development 15 min north. insurance goes down by $1000/yr! that's frickin' unbelievable. never had a single claim or ticket...and they charged my $1K more because i lived 15 min in the wrong direction.
I'd get so nervous if that cop pointed at me. There was a state trooper on the side of the highway and I was going 10 over. I thought he was gonna pull me over just because of the car, even though everyone else was going the same speed. On regular roads I try to stick to the speed limit.
In my experience, cops were a pain in the *** regarding cars when I lived in CA. Now that I live in NM, it's a much different story. I see tons of cars, bikes and trucks with loud exhausts blowing clouds of black smoke out the back and no one cares or takes notice. Gotta love NM!

Ive owned my car a little over a year now and havent been bothered by any cops. (knock on wood) Never even had any try to follow me. And I have the big wing. I really thought when I bought this car that it would be a cop magnet. I guess I was wrong....

So basically he was pointing at you telling you that you are next? Haha!! Those guys....I had a couple of cops I thought were tailing me this past weekend and I was on cruise control. Come to find out they were chasing down some G35 (Sedan) that was speeding and decided to drive slow once it got behind me. Im guessing that the G35 was trying to pass the buck and direct the attention towards me...but it didn't work, they got pulled over.

The cops around north Dallas love my car. A cop pulled up next to me asking if it was a true evo (I said no it was a RA) he looked surprised and just smiled and told me that it sounds amazing. Then just waved to me and told me to stay safe
I think that my Marine sticker/plates and Afghanistan sticker helped me out too

Was only pulled over once but that was because I made an illegal left turn off 1-9 heading to work.
I got off light because at the time I still had a NY drivers license, so the worst he could give me was a 180 dollar fine (no points).
Since then, haven't had any issues, and I just put the SSS wing on in May.

I'm totally paranoid in my Evo so I try not to speed much. Last thing I want is to get pulled over and have him lift my hood. I'd probably get impounded. Luckily, E85 burns a lot cleaner than when I run 91 so no clouds of smoke! I also have a laser jammer and a detector which has only helped once in the 8 months I've had them. I actually speed a lot in my Prius though!!!
The cop pulled the prelude over because he was going fast. You weren't. Makes sense to me.
And yeah, Evo's are cop magnets, cuz there's a movie out.. made a long time ago.. called fast and the furious. And that movie has made our cars into the stereotype that it is today. The rich kids doing dumb stuff in the streets don't help either.
I'm not really sure what's up with people saying they get tickets for mods?! i've never heard of anything like that in dallas.

I live in Richardson, TX (Dallas) and was pulled over by a cop in an unmarked Dodge Charger. Richardson cops dont play. His sole purpose is stopping ppl for moving violations. He got me for doing 60 in a 40. I was very respectful and said that about the time I realized I was speeding, his lights came. I apologized and said the car was my wifes and I hardly ever get to drive it (just a lil white lie). Gave him my DL and ins. He came back and said. "Mr. Graham, I am only going to give you a warning today. I know these things are fun to drive, but do me a favor and slow it down." me- yes sir! thank you, have a good day!
I couldnt believe it, and my brother-in-law who was in the car with me was flabbergasted. He is always getting tickets lol
He obviously knew what i was driving cuz of the whole "I know these things are fun to drive" comment. it might have actually gotten me out of a ticket. he probably has/had one hehe
