Airbag control unit reset

Hey,

I have spent some time trying to find the answer on the forum, I called 5 different dealers in Oregon and Washington and I'm still not sure what to do.
I have 2010 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution x MR which was in a minor accident. Unfortunately, driver airbag (steering wheel) and driver knee airbag were deployed. Airbags were replaced, seat belts replaced but I have a light on the dash "Airbag Maintenance Service Required". It blocks all info mods (gas mileage, AWD, etc).
Does anyone know exactly how to turn this light off?
1. Can existing unit be reset with dealer's computer to clear the history?
2. If I buy a used unit from another evo x which has never been in an accident, can it be reprogrammed for my car?
3. I have to get new unit from the dealer ($700)

Any help is very appreciated!
Daniel

I called several dealerships and they say that module needs to be replaced or they never reprogrammed used module.

Curious. I wonder what they'd say if you did not mention the accident? Something like "funny, this light just came on?". I had understood that, for example, if the seat sensor was damaged and then replaced the light would come on, requiring a trip to the dealer to get the module reset.

Sold my evo a long time ago.
If the module came from the wrecked car, it contains all the errors. You can tear your dash apart and plug in it. If the light is still on, then you need to ship it to someone to reset it. Dealer or any of the local mechanics do not have the right tools to do it. They will charge you $125 to diagnose the problem and tell you that you need a new module.
Search on eBay "Mitsubishi Evolution SRS service" and there will be several vendors who do that. I've used several of them with 100% success rate.
PM me if you have any questions.
