Ignition not turning to ACC

On my wifes Lancer (09) the igniton will not go from OFF to ACC.
I think a small plastic piece of the plastic FAST KEY knob broke off and fell in.

Is there any locks that would prevent the ignition to go from OFF to ACC?
Should I use force to move it or could thie worsen the situation.

Any thoughts?

try wiggling the steering wheel back and forth and then turn it with reasonable force before / after / during. Sometimes that will jiggle it where you can get a key out.

We can get the emergency key in and out.
However the car will not lock or unlock via touch with the FAST Key.

When the emergency key is all the way in, the screen will show:
"Remove Key!"

In case anyone cares, I basically removed the ignition switch, drilled out the rivets, removed a tiny piece of plastic. And it all went back to normal.
Sounds easy, but it was not...
