Should I lower my Evo X?

I've seen many EVO X's that are lowered and was wondering if I should lower mine? I'm assuming that I will need some after market parts to lower it so does anyone know of any products?

Slam it and put 225's on a 10.5" wide wheel and call it day. Hella swag, yo.

LOL!

But seriously, you could get springs. It's drops the car perfectly and isn't retardedly low.

my H&R springs are a perfect drop for stock wheels, daily driving. Not too low to hit, but low enough to look great.

single finger gap all around

It is up to you if you want to lower it, its your car. I lowered mine simply because I think it looks better. You can either go with springs or coilovers, I personally have bc coils and love them.

So why are people saying not to drop the car a little with springs? Isnt there performance to be gained?

Personally I would not have lowered if there was a stiffer spring at stock ride height. Unfortunately to go stiffer and keep stock height you have to buy coilovers and that wasn't in my short term budget. No reason to lower it other than looks.

You lose performance with lowering springs alone.
Less travel=harder to keep the rubber on the tarmac.

Also scraping on things is bad.

The only performance gain is that your center of gravity is slightly lowered. But you need the roll center to be fixed then too, as it's exponentially out of whack, creating MORE body roll.

Most people make the mistake of thinking lower springs=less body roll. Read up on suspension geometry.

The reason people lower their car is to make it look better.
You can end up with a better handling car after lowering however if you get the right valving on the shocks, getting a roll center adjustment kit and IMO roll bars/end links.

The short answer is no. Mitsubishi has a team on engineers who study suspension geometry. They attempt to find the best balance for the car.

Suspension geometry is very complex, camber, toe, weight transfer, travel, damping, roll center height, anti-dive and anti-squat. People like to think that they can just lower the center of gravity and that will translate into superior performance. It's just not that simple. Every tweak you make causes a ripple effect in the performance of your suspension.

But lowering your car will make it look better, at least that seems to be the popular opinion. I also feel it looks better, but I'm just not willing to sacrifice the other aspects of my suspension for looks and a slightly lower center of gravity.

Don't get me wrong, it's your car and you should do what you want with it. Just be aware that lowering the car does not necessarily equate to better overall performance.

I lowered my car on Swift Spec-R springs. Long story short: I'm either going to go back to stock or change to Eibach Pro's.

I have noticed a "bounce" while cornerning hard on uneven asphalt with the swift springs which never occured with the stock springs. Car can feel jittery in those situations, which makes me uncomfortable.

There is also another member here with the same issue.

Are you trying to do it only for looks? Do you want the ability to adjust the ride height? Do you simply drive to work and back or is there any track time?
