Daily Driver

Just got back from a test drive with a 2010 EVO GSR. It was 105 degrees outside and quite uncomfortable. Wife could not stand the seats in the car as they were 'uncomfortable'. I loved it. Just wish they had an MR on the lot to test drive. For me it would be another toy and I already have two toys at home and looking for something to use for the daily grind & still have some fun behind the wheel.

The IS250 was very similar to what I'm used to driving. It seems to be a good practical choice. The other car that we test drove was a BMW 328i coup. Looked good form the outside but not much room in the back seats for passengers. I'd like to take the 335i out for a drive next. Seems like another good choice with taller gear ratios over the EVO.

In the end I wish I could have had my fun up in the mountains with the car rather than getting stuck with traffic on highly traveled roads. This car just begs for hard driving. It seems like it would get expensive for me to replace tires all the time with spirited driving/track days.

Personally, I daily drive my 2011 GSR and have no complaints. My 2 year old daughter rides in the back safely (in a Recaro of coarse) and I still average 23-25mpg driving conservatively. I don't find it to be the most comfortable for long trips, but hey, you buy this car because it's a PERFORMANCE CAR. A lot of people lose grip of this and complain about the interior quality or what not. Ultimately you are the one that has to drive it. Your on an Evo forum so of coarse everyone is going to tell you to get one lol. But seriously... it's a blast, especially with bolt-ons and a tune, most vehicles you encounter won't be able to touch you.

Nice to know that the car can get decent mileage. Every time my 300ZX TT leaves the garage its a 1/4 tank of gas. I know the strengths and weaknesses of the car. Just need to convince the other half that the trade off in some comfort is made up for the enjoyment of driving. Still need to take out the WRX STI limited 5 door for a spin.

Perfect garage combination would be EVO MR, STI limited & GTR.

What is this thread about? Do you want a performance car or not? No? Then, buy whatever your wife likes. Yes? Then you'll use up tires and brake pads, if you actually drive the thing with some enthusiasm, and your wife will find the seats uncomfortable. Where, exactly, lies the unknown?

He wants an Evo but it sounds like the wifey don't like it. My GF hates the seats.....but did that stop me from buying it? Hell no, that's my car. It's a race car, women just don't understand haha

I'm so with you on this one. Only problem I have now is the argument about another 'toy'. I already have a sport bike and a sport car so she thinks I need something practical.

I think the X makes an amazing daily driver but you will go through tires super quick!

Someone came to an appropriate discussion forum to discuss the pros and cons of his conundrum with people more knowledgeable than he is, to help him determine whether it would be the right decision for him. What, exactly, is confusing about this?

What he was talking about was that we was answering his own questions. The OP just needs help with getting enough reason to buy the Evo

You live in California...buy something else. Let that EVO go somewhere in the US where it can play in the snow and rain like an X should

Women are lazy, stupid & selfish so buy your toys for you not based on their opinions. My brother borrowed my Evo one time and took his girl out who modeled for Ford (the modeling agency... Just to give some background of her high maintaince) anyway he was like this is bj's car (thats my name) and that he may trade his TL for one, she said ,"oh!? Why look there's not even a light above the vanity mirror for me to do my make up and where's the buttons to adjust my seat?

Need I say more? Most women don't have a clue, but my fiancé loves the seats but not my coilovers

I have a GSR. My wife can't drive a manual, so she had to get an MR. What's wrong with your wife?
